Horrendous
Worst app ever written in human history. Its failure to its one job of controlling the lights is exceeded only by the stupidity of the app’s design. Don’t waste your time or money on this garbage.
Not user friendly
I hate this app. Needs to be updated so that each light can be chosen & changed. Had I known the app was so bad, I wouldn’t have purchased these lights.
Recent update makes the app worse
Somehow the most recent update to the app made the experience worse. Now when I connect to a device, instead of seeing the pattern that is running, I see a placeholder loading image. With the most recent update I can’t reliably set my lights without going outside and looking at them. The hardware is nice, but the app ruins it.

This app is as terrible as the lights are beautiful
As others have said, the app is very bad. Thankfully, I have these hung up above my bed so I never experience problems with wifi or disconnecting. The app is very janky. You get 53 effects, number 47 does not work. It freezes and resets the pattern cycle, which is unfortunate because it never finishes unless you manually skip that one. You can edit the colors of some effects, but to manually enter it is horrible. It glitches out and makes it very hard. I tried to make a playlist with all except the one that glitches it but you can only have so many in a playlist. The lights themselves are absolutely incredible and the effects are extraordinary. It’s a shame, it’s an amazing product that is held back by a confusing, glitchy, and practically broken app. I would buy these type of lights from a different brand and save yourself the trouble.

This app is good!
This app is pretty ok overall, but it definitely does NOT deserve a 1 star rating. It works pretty good in general, but there are a few bugs that may need to be fixed. The other people who left reviews are definitely exaggerating.
Yeah these suck
The app doesn’t work! I could pick just one color but every time I use my garage door opener it changes the colors and randomly it just won’t connect or let me switch sets at all. So I get locked out of them all till i uninstall the app and re install it….
Truly horrendous app
The app is terrible. Lights do not follow the schedule assigned in the app. Flipping the effects/patterns in the app doesn’t work. If you’ve installed your lights upside down, I hope you like upside down Christmas trees or completely rehanging your lights.
flaky hardware, inscrutable software
Lights are pretty enough but the software (this app) to control them is confusing (I’ve worked in tech for 30 years) and whatever hardware they are using in the controller for connectivity will not maintain a connection. Returning lights to Amazon, and deleting this app. Caveat emptor.

Customer service was terrible, no trouble shooting, just reading from a script. App functionality is terrible. Only connected to the lights via Bluetooth for part of a day. Tried reinstalling the app and that did not work.

Absolute JUNK!
Got this for outdoor Christmas lights. But the light are way too far apart to identify what is showing. Furthermore the app sucks for your own design.
Finally as a Bluetooth controlled lights they lost connection after 15 feet, and goes to demo mode.

Bad App
The application is constantly disconnecting from the Wi-Fi every few minutes. Very unstable.

Beautiful lights, horrible app
Love the lights but the app is so bad. Keeps freezing and stops working so I have to delete the app and start all over again.

This App Is Almost Unusable
If I had known in advance how bad this app was, I would have never purchased the product. If you’re reading this and have an opportunity to return the lights, please do it. You can create a playlist of preprogrammed animations, but there’s no way to loop it so you just end up getting fed back into animations from all seasons. Scheduled tasks are limited to off/on and do not consistently work. Grouping lights doesn’t work well at all. This may be the only app review I’ll ever leave, but my god, this is a terrible application.

Don’t Waste Your Time or Money
This is the WORST app ever. Got permanent lights with this app and I have to uninstall and reinstall the app every time I wish to turn the lights on, change the colors, or turn them off. It isn’t an issue with my router bc everything else works just fine and the lights are close to the router. This is infuriating and was clearly a large waste of money.

Frustrating
The app is easy to install and connect. Installation wasn’t difficult. However, the lights will not stay on the effect I’ve chosen. As soon as I walk out of range, it will disconnect and revert to the default setting. I would like to be able to program the lights to turn on and off at specific times - this feature is not offered.

Needs an update
The SmartDawn app does not work well with the permanently mounted LED lights. The Effects list cannot be edited and saved. The Doodle grid is for the curtain lights. It is poorly designed for the string lights. There grid does not allow a program for all the lights to light in an endless sequence loop without any lights being off. It’s just not possible. The slider bar from 1-4 is not defined. The rotation choices in the Layout adjustment just don’t make sense for a string light. This could be a useful app with some good programming. It needs an update.
