Useless
The box is labeled with smartlabel, says download this app. Download the app and it doesn’t recognize the scan.
Not sure why this exists
Downloaded this 2025/July/31 after noticing my product’s barcode was tagged with “SmartLabel”.
And that’s where the experience ended. Dove, men’s care product, not recognized. My life won’t change because this App doesn’t work, but save yourself some time and go outside and get some fresh air.

Useless. Use Yuka instead!
Firstly, the barcode scanner is finicky. It needs the barcode in an upright position. What? Something software can do.
Secondly it shows manufacturers safety reference. Right, like that’s of any help in the USA especially where there are lax safety standards.
Also, it didn’t list Methylisothiazolinone on the first scan I did. This is a high risk chemical! So the program is HIDING this from you. My guess because they are in collusion with the manufacturers.
From what I can see it’s just a way for manufacturers to make products appear safe. I wouldn’t be surprised if this company and app is created with money from the manufacturers.

As others have said
The app does have great potential and I like what little it does, but it needs to do more. Like others, I experienced the app telling me the product I scanned was not a smartlabel product despite the fact that it is, and a search returns the product in the app's database. I suppose there could be some small thing about the product that doesn't match any of the very many types of Colgate Total toothpaste in the app's database; maybe this exact size isn't there or something – it's hard to tell because there are so many variations on the same product list listed in the database and the full name and traits of each product is not visible in the list on my phone, so I'd have to go to the details page of each of about 50 different products in order to see if the exact one I have in my hand is in the list...
Anyway, the app does have great potential, and I like being able to tap each ingredient in the product to see a short description of its function; unfortunately the implementation is far less than complete, and as of this writing the app has not been updated in two years, so I have to think it's abandonware. A shame, considering the app's potential to provide a great deal of information that interests many people. Oh well...

Doesn’t scan
Tried it on the barcode and it won’t even scan it and bring the product up.
Region
Scanned the Saint Ivy’s scrub in Canada, but it did not work until I changed the region to the US. The product was imported from the US, but I bought it from Walmart Canada.
Got what I wanted
One product I got only came with barcode on the back and text that says “smartlabelTM app enabled”. Scanned it with this app and was able to see the drug facts
Earth over corporations
5 stars because you are trying. Recycling should not be confusing and difficult. Please keep working on this app and build it up.
Doesn't work
Scanning product does not retrieve product info. Searching for it does.
Useless
Doesn't work. Says "not a Smart Label product" even if the profuct literally mentioned Smart Label.
Downloaded in Canada, but…
With my country set to Canada, the first SmartLabel product I scanned resulted in an error telling me it wasn’t a smart label. Things all changed when I changed the country to USA in Serttings! Success!
Not working and not maintained
The app doesn’t open and the devs haven’t updated it in almost a year
Does not scan anything
Downloaded Feb 16 2023
Canada
Could not recognize any of the products I tried that claimed to be “smartlabel app enabled”.
My theory: secretly tracks your shopping habits by what products you scan in your home.

It doesn’t work
Every time I try to scan a can the app crashes I tried the search bar and clicked on the product I tried scanning and the app told me it did have the items I was looking for
Has potential, but looks abandoned
I have a septic tank and so I have to use cleaning products that are safe for septic tanks. I was looking at a bottle to see if it said anything about it’s usage with a septic tank and saw the logo for this app. I installed it and searched the item hoping it had more information.
The app only provides the information that was already on the bottle. The UI is clunky and hard to see. It doesn’t seem to update its appearance with Day / Night mode. From the app page, it looks like it hasn’t been updated in a few years. I’m probably better off looking up items on the Amazon or Walmart app if I want more info.

Application inutile - aucun produit retrouvé
Si je pouvais donner 1/10 d’étoile ce serait la note accordée car aucun produit balayé n’a été trouvé.
Que dire d’une application supportant le français alors que plusieurs écrans sont en anglais uniquement.

Doesn’t seem to work at all
Crashes upon scanning, doesn’t find any of the items I’ve tried to scan even though they are marked “smartlabel: scan for more info” on the box. Not sure if this project is still active?
Useless
I purchased a product with a barcode that featured “SmartLabel” app on the product. After some research, decided to install the iOS app.
Scanning the barcode did not come up with anything. A manual search resulted in the manufacturer but not the product that featured the “see more on SmartLabel app.” I checked both the US and Canadian sites. Seems like some marketing idea that fizzled. Uninstall.

Completely useless
I thought the app would be better then their website, but surprise! I was wrong! Not only does it say products aren’t “smart label” products that clearly are, basic tasks in the app are too much for it to handle. Why bother with publishing this? Back to the drawing boards folks.
A shame
What an awesome idea!! To bad they don’t have any products on here that people actually buy. Scanned 5 items and NONE were in their database. Comet bathroom spray, windex, Pledge, Mr. Clean, and Handi Wipes.
