About

The snake is a word. It starts as Snak — the word "Snake," missing its e. A red e blinks on the page like a cursor. When the snake finally catches it, it doesn't complete the word. It digests the letter into another a. Snaak. Snaaak. Snaaaaaaaak. The word never gets finished. Only longer. A CLASSIC, SET IN TYPE The golden standards are all here: fixed speed you choose up front, buffered turns that never drop a fast corner, one-tap retry in under a second. But the score is not a number — your word grows visibly bolder as it grows longer, from hairline to black. Speed levels are point sizes: 8 pt is a stroll, 72 pt is a flex. FOURTEEN WAYS TO WRITE A SNAKE Play the word in LATIN (Snak), ROMAN (SERPEN, in majuscule, as Rome wrote), CYRILLIC (Змейк — Змейка, the game's actual Russian name, missing its а), GREEK, HEBREW, ARABIC (ثعبـــان — its body is the kashida, the mark whose whole job is stretching words), GEORGIAN, ARMENIAN, GE'EZ, KATAKANA (スネーク — the body is the elongation mark itself), HANGUL (배애애, hunting the ㅁ that would close it), CHINESE in both Simplified and Traditional (长长蛇 — a snake that stretches by meaning, eating eggs), and CUNEIFORM — where vertical travel rotates the signs back into their original orientation from five thousand years ago. THE SPECIMEN BOOK Eight typefaces, earned, not bought — from an elegant hairline didone to GLITCH, where your own word flickers as you read it. Three papers: the type-specimen sheet, the school penmanship notebook, squared graph paper. Dark mode is free, always. PHOSPHOR — the CRT edition with its own sound — must be earned. Some things money can't buy. EVERY DEATH IS A TYPO. The death screen prints your word and strikes it through. Share it. That's the whole scoreboard: Snaaaaaaaaaak — 11 a's. HONEST BY DESIGN Free forever: the full game, every speed, every script. One purchase unlocks the full specimen book — no ads, no tracking, no accounts, fully offline. A daily word shared worldwide, Game Center leaderboards, VoiceOver menus, Reduce Motion honored. TAP TO TYPE.
