Appreciate the effort

The app causes my entire snapcast setup to stutter, simply, it does not work. Also the UI has significant problems; there isn’t a way to hide hidden players. I’ll be switching back to the web interface on my iPad which works just fine except for background playback. Would be happy to pay $5 for an app that worked, even better if it was open source so someone could fix it even if the dev doesn’t have time. Edit: after visiting the github page I see that this app or its framework is open source. The last release on the page was 3 months ago so why was this last app updated 2 years ago?

Its a Great app for starting out and testing out your new setup tho it has a few bugs which need ironing out.

Also it doesn’t work well with music assistant.

Please update the app to the latest snapclient version

Hello,

the app works almost fine. I encountered some issues and I think they are resolved if the app is updated to the latest snapclient version. See also the lastest GitHub issue for more details. Thank you in advance.

Greed is the root of all evil

Not only this app runs better on Android (no config required) it’s also free.

Response from developer

Hi! "greed is the root of all evil" - I agree, this software is in fact free; you can simply download my source code here and build it for iOS/Android/Windows all by yourself: https://github.com/stijnvdb88/Snap.Net. One small detail: in order to compile it for iOS you will need an Apple Developer account which is not free - try looking up the cost and perhaps then you will understand why the software is free, but the iOS app is not. Please read this thread for more info: https://github.com/stijnvdb88/Snap.Net/issues/7#issuecomment-665629565. If you have any more questions, feel free to open an issue on the GitHub page.

Playback stutters badly and all clients show twice

Playback is stuttering badly. I read somewhere that the iOS time stamp is not accurate enough for synched playback.

I don’t really need playback in my phone so not really a problem for me.

All clients appear twice on my screen. Even old clients that are no longer on my network. This app needs a setup option to hide unused/unwanted/old/duplicate clients.

Won’t work at all

Won’t play audio. All other clients work.

Response from developer

Hi! Can you give me some more information please about what happens exactly, which device you are using, which version of snapserver you are running, and which codec is being used? Alternatively, you can open an issue at https://github.com/stijnvdb88/Snap.Net/issues/ where I should be able to help you better. The first thing that comes to mind is that the codec used by your snapserver config is unsupported in the iOS client - that would cause playback to not output anything at all. This iOS client only supported flac/raw pcm at release, but since today's release (0.26.0) the opus codec is supported as well.

Works great

Thanks makes life easier for Snapcast users with iOS devices.

Excellent app. Brilliant support

Does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Had issues with my Snapcast server, which the author helped me to resolve. Awesome.

Super useful

Does what it says and lets me control all my snapcast devices that have ever connected to your server and even allows group naming. Even the snapweb interface doesn’t have this many features!

Pressing play in the app connects as another snapcast client and can play background audio on my phone without fuss. Newly added support for dark mode and iOS media controls are working great.

I am even able to use this app via cellular + VPN to my home audio without skipping.

The only way this app could possibly improve further would the addition of a Mopidy/MPD client via in-app purchase.

Thanks for the review, it was very helpful! I've just released an update (1.3) which should address both those issues. Please let me know if either one persists. Best regards, Stijn Van der Borght
