About

Will tomorrow be a snow day? Snow Day answers the question every kid (and every parent) asks the night before a storm, with a real forecast and real reasons, not a coin flip. No ads, no subscriptions, no tracking. One price, once. WHY SNOW DAY • No ads, ever. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to unlock, and no tracking of any kind. • Apple Watch app and complications, so the odds are on your wrist before you're out of bed. • One evening notification, at the time you choose, only when the odds are worth mentioning, and never a repeat. • Tuned to your school board: pick how easily it cancels and whether it has a wind-chill policy. • Canada and the United States, with official alerts from Environment Canada and the National Weather Service. HOW IT WORKS Snow Day watches the hours that matter: from dinnertime tonight through the 9 AM bell. It scores the same things school boards and bus consortia look at when they make the 5:30 AM call: • Snow falling during the morning bus run counts far more than snow that stopped at midnight • Freezing rain and ice, weighted by when it hits • Rain that turns into a flash freeze • Blowing snow: gusts plus loose snow on the ground • Extreme cold, if your board has a wind-chill policy • Active warnings from Environment Canada and the US National Weather Service You get one clear number, a plain-English reason ("Overnight Snow: 18 cm, 4 cm during the bus run"), and how much the forecast models agree. MAKE IT YOURS Some boards cancel at 5 cm. Others shrug at 20. Choose your board's snow tolerance and cold policy, your units, your notification time and threshold, and, if you like tinkering, the weight of every factor. THE NIGHT BEFORE, AND THE MORNING OF • One evening notification when the chance is at or above your threshold • A fresh check around 5 AM so the morning number is current • A three-day outlook of the school mornings ahead ON YOUR WRIST AND LOCK SCREEN • Apple Watch app with the odds, the reasons, and the days ahead • Watch complications and iPhone lock-screen widgets • Home-screen widgets in two sizes • Everything refreshes in the background so the answer is there when you look FORECAST DATA Forecasts come from two independent weather models blended together, from Open-Meteo. Alerts come straight from Environment Canada and the NWS. Snow amounts are corrected for temperature, because cold, fluffy snow piles up faster than the raw forecast says. Snow Day is a prediction, not a promise: the final call always belongs to your school board.

What's New in Snow Day

1.0.1

September 20, 2026

This update fixes several things that could leave the morning number wrong or out of date. • The 5 AM update now counts snow that fell before midnight • Freezing rain found higher up now counts in full, and fog no longer counts as blowing snow • A storm watch for tonight is no longer hidden by a warning that ends this morning • Widgets and watch complications clear once the school morning is decided, and switch to "Today" at midnight • Opening the app refreshes an old forecast, and the Lock Screen Live Activity comes back in the morning • If the chance dipped in the evening and then rose again, the morning alert now goes out • Apple Watch keeps its own newer forecast instead of going back to the phone's older one • Smaller fixes for city search, daylight-saving changes and readability
