Sol et Luna - Sun and Moon paths - displays the paths of both with detailed information relating to their orbits.
The user can use the Digital Crown button to change what is displayed in the primary Orbit screen to include more or less data fields.
In addition each tab or view can be toggled on or off so that the user can personalised the views they wish to have.
This app is designed to assist the outdoors user in understanding the sun and moon paths, how they relate to each other and to further our knowledge of their unique paths.
Ideal for all outdoor navigators, sailors and hikers who wish to explore the sky above them and to provide an complementary method of determining their direction and heading that guided our ancestors on their explorations for generations across this globe.
Description of each tab or view:-
Orbit display - rotate the Digital Crown to change
Level 1 - an orange line with sun icon showing the bearing of current sun
Level 2 - green and red sunrise and set bearings with orange band showing day duration and azimuth bearing
Level 3 - sunrise and set bearings shadow bearing with person icon showing reciprocal position with is azimuth shown in gray
Level 4 - moon azimuth dimmed if not visible with moon icon. Current watch magnetic heading shown in yellow near centre.
Level 5 - sunrise and set times for sun and moon
Level 6 - west and east cardinals
Orbit settings
Compass rose - Adds standard compass rose with 30 degree sections.
True Heading - Changes the watch magnetic heading to true with its indicator changing from yellow to red on the orbit display.
Solstices Arcs - Displays the summer and winter solstices as an orange or blue dashed line respectively to show day duration lengths.
Minor cardinals - Displays NE/SE/SW/NW positions on compass rose.
Rise and set
Shows time and azimuth of sunrise and set. Also displays moon rise and set for today and tomorrow.
Azimuths
Displays current azimuth for current time. Shadow azimuth shown for sun and sun altitude.
Moon azimuth and altitude shown.
Sun detail
Hourly change - shows the hourly change in azimuth bearing and sun altitude angle.
Max altitude - shows local solar noon time with the sun maximum altitude.
Day duration - measures daylight hours with any change +/- in minutes from previous day.
Dark sky duration - indicates the length of true darkness.
Seven (7) day table -shows the next 7 days of sunrise and set times.
Solstice - shows details of next solstice event indicating the number of days to go and length of day.
Equinox - shows days to go to next event.
Moon detail
Hourly change - shows the hourly change in azimuth bearing and altitude angle.
Moon phase - shows the percentage illumination and moon phase name.
Next phase - shows the number of days to next phase.
Visibility - depicts whether moon is currently visible with brief description.
Moonlight duration - shows the length of moon light between next moon rise and set.
Days to new moon - the number of days until the New Moon.
Full moon status - the number of days to and from New Moon.
Next 2 months - showing the major moon phase events for the next 2 months.
Moon age - shows the days elapsed since New Moon and number of days to next New Moon.
Transits
Solar noon and lunar noon times
Location
Shows GPS coordinates with calculated local magnetic declination. Local Time Zone and UTC displayed.
Twilights
Civil, nautical and astronomical times shown following standard astronomical convention.
Golden hour
AM and PM zones shown to indicate best natural light for photography.
Event times
These are shown as a continuous band to illustrate the general daily movements and events throughout the solar day.
Settings
Each of these tabs/views can be toggled on and off if desired. Just remember to select at least one tab/view. !
