SongBox Music Player Dropbox User Reviews

Playlist needs work

It seems there's no batch add to playlist, I have to click one song at a time.
If want to add all songs in a Dropbox folder, I have to do two clicks for each song, which is impossible given the number of songs in the folder. The UI also needs work, a good developer should get some good art styles as well. Functional and beautiful are both important

Great app! No background refresh

I can't remember the exact flow of setting this up but I swear it just scans entire drive of drop box. I canceled right away because I have 3tb of files in there.

Here's what's wrong with this app. It doesn't have background app refresh to download so you can't shut your screen off and it needs to be in focus. I accidentally downloaded 72 gigabytes of my favorite artists folder by folder and kept my phone on overnight. I'm not going to redo all my folders again with auto download off. You can't even go to another app while it's downloading the file or meta data.

Once you have the songs downloaded the app is great and beats other dropbox music player apps I tried.

Thank you for a 5 star review!

Great player for music on your Dropbox account

What great application to play the music files you have in your Dropbox. Like the other reviewer said: itโ€™s important that you can scan just a specific folder (with sub folders) otherwise it would be to long to scan your whole Dropbox account. You can select by artist, album, songs and you can create your own playlist. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Thank you for your 5 star review!

Really terrible!

Does not organize music by album.
Does not display cover art.
Does not bookmark.
Unstable performance.
Organizes songs alphabetically, which means in most cases you will have a list of album selection numbers (i.e., "01 โ€“ 02 โ€“ 03," etc.)

Not keen on 10,000 song limit

Dropbox scanning was incredibly fast ... Until I hit this ridiculous limit. Come on. The only reason I need to access my music from Dropbox is because my library is too big to download to my iPad.

Certain improvements are needed

While the app is impressive, I wish they added a simple but fundamental feature that they are missing: repeat feature. If they include this feature, the app will be rated 5 stars for sure.

TERRIBLE APP, NO VALUE

I bought this app assuming an app specifically designed to play music from would have basic audio player capabilities, I was wrong. This does not play music continuously, I have to hit play on the next track when one song end.

Also, it doesn't not work with the headphone remote. I tried to pause the playback with the remote while in the app instead of just pausing the songbox player, it began playing the built in music app.

The only thing I can tell this app does well is show me the music files i have in dropbox while completely disorganizing any folder structure.

Not good

It can't play continuously , no playlist and every songs must played at least once to get the info.. Wasted my money

Really wanted AudioBooks (m4b) file support

Should have read the full description.

Please Add Auto Scanning of ID3 Tags

Works very well except that id3 tags aren't read until a given song is played. This makes it extremely hard to find the song you want. Please add option to scan all music for id3 tags prior to playing any songs. It is very cumbersome to use otherwise.

Works best over Wi-Fi

I have iPhone on Sprint, and Sprint's 3G service simply isn't sufficient for Songbox to stream music smoothly. I find that strong Wi-Fi signals provide the best experience with Songbox.

Given that, Songbox is a nice app. I like that I don't have to download the music files to play them. I wish Songbox would allow browsing by album title or genre.

Good app

Wish it would find tags automatically after syncing with drop box. ( you have to play the songs at least once before they find tags)

Great potential here. Great job

Has a 10,000 song limit on scan

Scanning through my Dropbox music and the scan stopped at 10,000 songs. Very disappointing.

Good app...

I downloaded the free app then upgraded to the pay app. Its a good app, has a decent UI and works well. I'm excited to see what features will come up in future versions. Hopefully, a video player that will play files like GoodPlayer, but through dropbox.

FINALLY!!!

5 stars easy. Sure the interface could use some polish and it doesn't scan the mp3 tags until you play the song. But between Dropbox music streaming and the Mixtape it already earned 5 stars. The rest is just polish.

Wifi works better than 3G, but there us just a 3-4 second pause between tracks on 3G. That's not the apps fault.

If you don't have Dropbox, get it. Then get this app. No more fiddling, screaming, or praying to iTunes.

The official Dropbox app can play a single song, but not an album or playlist.

Low-tech, no .wav support

Low-tech interface

No .wav support

Needs more support for industry standard audio formats

Besides, I just found out that this app is really unnecessary anyway because the free DropBox app already streams audio and video...including .wav files.

True dropbox streaming!!

Not a song cacher, it truly streams songs via Dropbox, making this a must have app for Dropbox users. The update fixed the mixtape crashing bug for me, mixtape functionality is amazing...

Still a little stutter when the song begins streaming, but not bad enough to warrant a star loss.

This app has become one of my essentials!!

It Streams!

The only Dropbox music app that actually streams your music rather than making you download the tracks locally first.

am I missing something

update to review below: the fix to this issue below was critical to making me see the value of this app, which in fact is awesome. for folks with tons of data stored w/ dropbox it previously took way too long to scan songs, but the ability to designate the music folder now makes all the difference between an app that was useless and and app that is killer.

if there is a such thing as a music folder in dropbox, then why on earth would this app need to first scan the entire account to locate your songs??

Thanks for putting in selective folder scanning!
