Software

Love Sonos sound systems when they work. Still too many glitches with their software.

Sonos sucks and they don’t care — BUYER BEWARE

I’ve invested thousands of dollars into my 8 SONOS devices and they took a great customer experience and shredded it. They will tell you they e taken feedback and improved the app but I can tell you first hand it’s simply awful to deal with. Hate it — and SONOS gives lip service. Buyer beware!

Poor service

The review will come as no surprise to Sonos as its well documented about the poor performance of the app since the big update, poor connectivity, unresponsive and boringly slow, used to love Sonos but now wish I a had invested in a more professional service provider, shame on you for getting to this point!

Inconsistent AirPlay Performance

AirPlay performance has not been good lately. I have a Move 2 and the current generation Amp - when playing content via AirPlay the devices connect, play for about 1-5 seconds then stop and buffer endlessly. I’ve triple checked my WiFi network and the issue isn’t due to network congestion or lack of bandwidth or speed.

Terrible

Terrible glitchy app that never works correctly. Constantly have to try different things to get it working and connecting my speakers

App

I have several Sonos speakers in different properties and they are all these days slow to connect and poor responsiveness so local network is not the issue - the app is slow

It’s never paired

I hate it. It never connects all speakers at once and when I do it manually, and press “apply” it ensures I’ll get no audio nine times out of ten. If my Sonos bar wasn’t mounted I’d throw it in the trash

Goes offline

I like most things about the Sonos amp. I do not like that it keeps going offline even when the network is strong and the WiFi signal is nearly 400 Mbps. I also think there needs to be an option for bluetooth capabilities; it seems very limited to the apps it supports. You must be a premium subscriber to listen to the music you want.

Volume controls… still/again

The latest volume controls are an improvement, but I very much hate having to tap on the volume bar to reveal the -/+ controls. Very often I end up hitting mute either because tapping the bar didn’t work out or because the -/+ visibility didn’t persist long enough. While I’m trying to sneak my kid’s volume down as they fall asleep, the mute startles them and they yell at me for messing with their listening. Please find a better way to persist the -/+!!!

Compliqué

C’est toujours compliqué avec SoundCloud, pourquoi ne pas faciliter vos connexion?!

Old app

Old app was better

Excellent System - Disastrous Software

My Sonos app was updated a few weeks ago, presumably to add volume numbers to individual speakers, but in the process it removed control to several of them seemingly randomly. To be honest, I have not attempted to contact the AI phone agent to try to correct it. All of my devices are S2 and not mixed. I am trying to operate them directly from the Spotify app now.

Good and bad

The Sonos system sounds great and is amazing when it works, but when it drops the signal, it can be an absolute nightmare

Software/app is always a n issue

CBC Music no longer works. CBC Radio 1 is fine. How can one channel work, and the other doesn't? Worked fine last week. Sonos app is always a pain in the rear when it comes to launching the app and getting the speakers to connect. Every other wireless device in my home works fine all the time. The opposite is true of Sonos.

Me

Awful. They can’t play BBC via voice control, the speakers never connect, the app never works.

Don’t buy

The speakers don’t work. Don’t buy them. The connectivity problems are horrible. Buy Sony or any other brand.

Performance is bad

50% of time can’t play anything from Spotify. Goes in and out of speakers. Feels like 2 years ago.

“Enhancement” to APP

Their new update is absolute garbage. Don’t toggle it on, you’ll regret it as I did. AirPlay won’t work, equalizer is grey eyed out, voice assistants can’t be edited or confirmed (still works tho), trutune on non surround sound setups won’t remain active. Hope they come out with a bug fix asap. Once you toggle that enhancement is doesn’t matter if you turn it off. Damage has been done. Quite frustrating for thousands spent on these speakers.

Sonos Lost their way

The app clunky it’s trying to do too much for everything. Keep it simple make it fast. It sucks now.
