Great Listens But App Needs Improvement
The books offered are phenomenally narrated! However I have nothing but trouble with the app itself. I would love to see it on Apple CarPlay. Additionally the biggest issue I have is pausing a book and coming back to it later. It saves my spot sometimes, but other times when I reopen the app, it starts from the next chapter a few minutes in or a few minutes behind where I was. It’s very inconsistent.

This app is a mess
Why does it take 7-10 business days for the app to open? It’s very sluggish when navigating the app also.
Stories are great; app itself is terrible.
App crashes, buggy as hell, and the UI is barely functional.
Good content, terrible app
The content is great, but the app design is so frustrating. The thing takes FOREVER to load, the layout is unintuitive, downloading and deleting files is a pain, and randomly the app just won’t work!
App is Trash. Content is Gold.
Constantly disconnect constantly goes into loading screens… If this doesn’t get fixed soon all the content that is golden. It’s just gonna be wasted..
Content Great App Needs Work
The content on this app is amazing. The cinematic audio book quality is top notch and very immersive. You can tell the people working on these projects are extremely passionate about their craft.
The app itself needs work in areas. The number one issue is that the app takes forever to open/load. Outside of that I have some minor qualms: overall navigation / UI could use some improvements. I wish the app was optimized to show up on my car dash when using Car Play (it shows once you play from phone, but it’s not selectable as an app on the dash before then).

Cannot always open while offline
Sometimes it’s weird when trying to open the app. When you DO have a connection it can take ages to get started to play anything.

Glorious content, most recent update fixed nearly every issue I’d had.
Let’s get this out of the way: the Dungeon Crawler Carl Audio Immersion Tunnel is a greater thing than sliced bread. I can slice my own bread, but damn if that thing isn’t a phenomenal work of collaborative art. If you haven’t listened to it, go buy it now.
What Jeff Hays and the team at SBT are doing is pretty incredible. Their mission is a worthy cause to support, and most of the content is impressively low-priced for the production quality and volume. The catalog available here continues to expand all the time, and I feel good about the fact that I’m using a small platform that connects me more closely with the actual content creators.
Prior to the most recent update I had definitely noticed some funkiness at times with playback; random pauses, app crashes while in the background, difficulty starting playback. But the most recent update seems to have resolved all of that, and I haven’t had any notable issues since.

Only way I want to listen!
I am loving the Dungeon Crawler Carl adaptation! I read the books and had done audible but Soundbooth has really stepped up with the extra material and effects. Jag Barth and Shrek. Keep me laughing! Keep it up boys.

Awful app. Why is it so bad?!
Takes 20-30 seconds to load each time. Difficult to navigate, slow, stops playing. No reason why an app should be this bad in 2026.
Worth it
My first and likely only review of any app. SoundBooth Theater does an amazing job and I highly encourage anyone on the fence to give it a shot. Very entertaining, great sound effects and narration. To those complaints about the app cutting out… Mongo is appalled.
Great content, terrible app
I want so badly to make this a 5 star review but the app is just terrible to navigate. Takes upwards of 1 min just to open the app and then it can be very buggy. I can’t get more than a chapter into a book or the DCC audio immersion tunnel before the app just freezes and won’t play. There is also something in how the app is set up so that Siri won’t consider it a media library and play it on voice command. If they spruced up the app with some better hosting or coding or whatever they need to fix these problems this app would be a delight.

Great product trapped behind an inability to use it
Saw all the reviews warning me about the difficulty using the app, but I thought maybe it will be different with the updates, so let me give it a chance. I was wrong. I listened to a sample of a production and it was completely phenomenal! But when I tried to pay for it, the app told me the payment was successful but it wouldn’t show up. So I closed the app tried again later, then days later, than weeks and updates later. Tried paying again. Got my card double charged and never received the product. Thankfully Apple refunded me.
A friend let me borrow his cassette of Dungeon Crawler Carl and it was fantastic. It’s just the app that is unfortunately trash at the moment.

App Does Not Launch
App will not launch. Gets stuck at splash screen and will not advance or load anything.
Not very good
For a audio app, its not very good. Audio stops playing randomly, even though its a downloaded book, closing the app without pausing sometimes doesn’t save your listening progress, and when opening the app, it doesnt load, you have to close it and open again, and even then its slow to load.
Great content but app latency and reliability a problem
App starting time over 10 seconds and seems to rely on solid internet connection even for downloaded content. Then stream sometime just pauses without recovery. If you trying to disrupt audible which does not have these issue get these fixed and I might stay. Also car play support please.
Awesome company, app needs work
The app stops playing audiobooks randomly, takes awhile to load, and doesn’t have a “download all” option when downloading book chapters/scenes
Offline is broken
Offline playback is broken, it ends up repeating the first scene audio of the season no matter which you hit play on. This is true even when you tell it to delete the first scene. This is incredibly frustrating to find out an hour into a long flight…
Great app, get rid of loading screen!
It’s 2026, the ‘hang tight’ loading screen when first opening the app is really frustrating and whatever is loading during that screen should happen in the background and let users navigate the app as normal. If anything the app should keep a cache of what it needs to open and just load extra stuff in the background.

Do not actually hit guest and skip, locks you in endless loading loop.
