Works okay, instructions are confusing

This app is good for a free app, but it could be more user friendly. For example , when you select the Blacklisting toggle, the words “Whitelisting” appear (because it’s on the other side of the toggle). For the longest time I was adding rules to the wrong place because it wasn’t clear which area I was in.

The tutorial only tells you how to enable SpamHound on your phone, not how to use it. The FAQ section was written for those already familiar with the program. And some of its rule command are techie in nature.

Right now I’m getting a persistent spammer coming and my blacklist time isn’t working. When I run the check, it shows it’s allowing the sender not stopping it. I can’t figure out why.

Doesn’t work

I did the test and everything and thought it worked but I’m still getting spam messages.

Perfect app

Somehow, I got on the mailing list of every senator and Congress person candidate. Few choice words and almost all of their SMS text messages (that I never signed up for) have disappeared. Great app. Thank you.

It just doesn’t work

Unnecessarily difficult to use and doesn’t work at all

Seems unable to adall the new system

This is an imperfect but excellent app that has been incredibly useful since I started using it. It filters almost everything I don't want to see and is customizable. However, since my recent upgrade to iOS 26.2, it seems incompatible with the new system. Apple has added a built-in filter, but it's difficult to use compared to SpamHound. And regardless of whether it's enabled in settings, it doesn't replace SpamHound (SH). Therefore, I think this app, which hasn't been updated in four years, probably needs an update. iOS 26.2 is very unusable, and I hope to revert to the older version if possible. I've been using SpamHound ever since. I'll revise my review after an update.

Has it stopped working?

Messages with words on the blacklist still get through.

It’s a great app!

Spam

I’ve created rules, which when a text is verified against them, returns spam sms yet they still are delivered.

Does block SMS, unfortunately not iMessages

I tried blocking all messages from email addresses - they still go through. I also added a pattern “+63” but still getting spam from there. I heard that it is because those are iMessages and not SMS, and a lot of spam goes through iMessages, unfortunately.

It does not work

For some reason the app misses a lot of rules

Keeps my iPhone text inbox free of junk

I had been added to spam mass texts from Gmail accounts, I've set a filter for anything from a Gmail account and it solved the problem.

Really good app

Loving this app does the job

Customization Works But Little Else

My worst spam offender uses the name “Rhonda.” It was easy to set a custom filter against any message with “Rhonda” in the text, and that worked, but most of the new spam messages are delivered. I tried another app and it was worse overall, and it did not let me filter on specific words.

Spam killer!

I got spam messages once or twice a day. The phone company can’t do anything about it. All spam messages come from email. I don’t understand why wireless phone companies even allow this happening. Complained to the wireless provider, no help at all. Then I installed this app,all set!!! It is awesome

Difficult to use

You can not view the list of messages it has marked as spam. You need to be able to see everything it is marking as spam so you can whitelist the things it is marking as spam that you actually want.

Doesn’t work at all

Totally useless

Spam

Even after reporting text as spam the app continues to allow that same number to spam you once again. Their database does not update and delete messages.

Support?

I can't find anywhere to contact support for this app. I created a filter to block any SMS senders that contain @ in other words, any email addresses. However, they're not being blocked. I have two eSIM lines in my iPhone and I have read that apps only block what is sent to my primary eSIM. I need support to understand if this app is capable of blocking messages on my secondary eSIM line because that is where spam is coming in and nothing is being blocked.

Relief!

Starting about 5 months ago I started getting political texts requesting donations in mass every day. I have blocked literally hundreds, if not over 1,000 numbers, have responded “stop” to hundreds of messages, have reported as junk and reported many messages to the FCC. Nothing seemed to put a dent in it. I use a work phone for my personal phone, so can’t purchase apps. I found this app today at no cost. It is simple and relatively intuitive. There are no in-app purchases and no advertisements popping up. What a huge relief. I have several custom filters set up to handle all these texts now. Thank you!
