Working Good!

I'm using Spark on my iPhone and have for quite a number of years. This beta version much better than previous non-beta version I was using before support suggested I try this version.

No issues so far šŸ‘

Not anymore

This used to be a great email app. Now it is a terrible forced AI app that rarely actually fetches email, inconsistently sends email, and tries to micromanage workflows even with all of the extras turned off. Super disappointing to watch a great app get sucked into trends and ruin its core functionality.

Close But Not Quite

It’s almost there. It’s not the most customisable, but it doesn’t need to be. It is, however, missing two big features: 1. Do not automatically mark as read and 2. A selection box instead of only ā€œmark as doneā€ on the main screen. Sometimes I want to select twenty-six non-sequential emails and move them to a folder easily instead of archiving them to ... somewhere. ALL of the time I use my inbox as a to-do list, and do not want my email client to automatically mark as read if I use my phone to sneak a peek at an email that requires a laptop response. These don’t have to be the default! Feel free to bury these adjustments in an ā€œAdvanced Settingsā€ tab. But without them, Spark will never be my primary.

All emails, One App

I can connect all my emails on one app, plus seamlessly click the ā€˜read’ button on 50+ emails at once. I subtracted one star because it is not as functional on a Macbook.

Almost Perfect

One of the best email clients I’ve used in a long time. My only complaint is that it only refreshes my email when I open the app.

Paid user for a while now

This app has been really good in ways and weird in others. Ive made suggestions and the dev team has been responsive to fixes or enhancements in subsequent releases. I’ve been using the AI assistant more and more and it’s helpful. I like the email templates. A couple things from the desktop version I would like to see: (1) Copying bulk emails from spreadsheet or text list with each entry on its own line pastes simply as ā€˜@ā€˜. (2) I would like the computer keyboard shortcuts (like CMD+M for move) to be brought to iPad so I don’t have to click everything. Im not a fan of looking for SAVE-email-Folders. It’s still clunky. I think Outlook still ā€˜owns’ that space. Readdle dont be creative with this. I dont like the 3-4 latest used folders then fishing through a pop up list for the actual folder I want. I have 7 email accounts in this client and it’d be nice to go to all my saved folder for a specific account - for drag and drop purposes. CMD-K for inserting a URL link over text would be extremely helpful as well. Otherwise Im generally happy with this email client. Im still paying for it.

Disappointed

Very disappointed that they decided to remove the ability to be able to attach documents in the latest version without buying into their AI stuff. They are now also adding a ā€œSent by Sparkā€ thing to the bottom of the email. Going to be deleting this.

Spark Does Not Connect To Zoho Mail Accounts Anymore

After two full years of daily use, the app no longer connects to my Zoho Mail accounts. I can connect normally on Apple Mail and Edison Mail, so 1 made the switch to them. The disconnect started this week, and no matter how many times I re-add the accounts, it absolutely will not connect, and the imap settings are all correct. Whatever changes you made in your last updates has caused a lot of your daily users to delete the app. I am looking at the current reviews and seeing the same complaints over and over. I will give you 2-3 weeks and try again, but if it still does not connect, then I will permanently leave. I know you are going to reply to contact your support team, but I should not need to, it is a simple mail server connection.

Just gets worse and stupid things interfere with being able to send an email.

It seems every time this gets update the core functionality of being able to read or write an email gets worse. Today I couldn’t write an email because some stupid AI overlay at top and some stupid popup at bottom. Gave up and installed the Apple mail app again as it simply works.

MS365 mail doesn't sync correctly anymore

I'm using this APP for a long time and I love it. With recent update with using MS Graph API, I'm having issues with MS365 mails. When I delete emails in Outlook using laptop, it doesn't sync with phone anymore. Please help fixing this issue.

Shockingly bad.

Happy used Spark Classic for many years. Recently was forced to update as it stated my Outlook email wouldn’t work. Now Outlook doesn’t work with Spark Classic. It just deleted. It works with the new Spark AI Desktop, but it’s so bug ridden you should waste your time.

The way Spark have handled this forced upgrade is appalling. You have broken my email something which I rely on.

Infuriating automation. Not a serious app.

It makes videos much bigger when it prepares them to be attached to an email, then tells you they're too big to send and to upgrade to use Spark Cloud.

First, don't change my videos.
Second, both my provider and the recipient's allow attachments up to 50MB, and that's pretty standard, so why is this app putting a lower limit on?

iOS Mail has mandatory compression (again, why?) but at least I can send something, even if it's degraded. This is just a blocker to getting anything done. Joke of an email app.

On top of this, updates periodically reset your signature options, adding a "Sent with Spark [hyperlink]" note to the bottom of new emails. Getting caught by this when you're trying to send a quick reply leaves a bitter taste.

And as if that's not all too much already, when you install Spark on an additional device, it resets many of your settings (e.g groups) and syncs them through iCloud to all your other devices.

Never before have I encountered an app that is so disrespectful of user choices.

After 3 months

Spark is decent but I would like more settings and customization. The choice of sounds, layouts , custom filters and rules is very minimal.

Great app

Even better than Apple Mail which is hard to do. Wish they would add contact management

ā€œSent by sparkā€ sign off is garbage

Fuming at a random update that allowed a ā€œSent by sparkā€ tagline as part of my email sign off. Invasive and unnecessary. Fix this.

Slowly becoming unusable

Especially with desktop. I like AI features, but email is not the distribution channel for anything but drafting and is quickly eroding the platform.

One of the best email apps

I’m a long time user of Spark, and no app is perfect, but Spark is one of the best email apps out there. That said, the constant push to sell me AI features is exhausting. I have zero desire to use AI in my email because I have a brain between my two ears, but would pay a dollar or two a month just to have read receipts. Keep making great apps but please stop pushing AI on us!

Another app ruined by AI

Honestly the best email app I’ve ever used. I’ve used it for years and it’s been brilliant. But having banners and popups constantly nagging me to use their AI has turned me off it. I’m now looking for an alternative that does more or less what Spark does but doesn’t endlessly harass me about using AI features.
