About

SpeedQX measures your internet speed with technician-grade accuracy and retro style. Run download, upload, ping, and jitter tests against Cloudflare's global edge network, M-Lab's NDT7 infrastructure, or both at once — with confidence-weighted averaging, outlier filtering, and percentile breakdowns you can trust. DUAL-PROVIDER TESTING Most speed test apps rely on a single server. SpeedQX tests against two independent providers — Cloudflare and M-Lab NDT7 — and merges results using methodology-appropriate weights (Cloudflare 60% for bandwidth, NDT7 60% for latency). When results diverge by more than 30%, SpeedQX flags it — which can indicate ISP throttling or network congestion. TECHNICIAN-GRADE ACCURACY A dedicated latency engine fires 100+ pings before your speed test even starts, with a warm-up phase discarded to eliminate DNS/TCP/TLS setup noise. Bandwidth measurements go through a three-stage accuracy pipeline: slow-start discard, IQR outlier filtering, and modified trimean computation. Jitter uses the industry-standard RFC 3550 algorithm — the same one used by Zoom, FaceTime, and VoIP systems. ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS - Bufferbloat detection grades your router A through F by measuring latency spikes under load — the #1 hidden cause of "fast but laggy" connections - Connection stability shows whether your speed is rock-steady or swinging wildly - Cloudflare AIM scores rate your connection for streaming, gaming, and real-time video call readiness - Latency percentiles (P50, P95, P99) show your typical ping AND your worst-case spikes - Tap any metric card for a plain-English explanation and color-coded quality assessment DNS CONNECTIVITY DIAGNOSTICS SpeedQX probes 12 major domains in parallel — Google, Cloudflare, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Netflix, GitHub, Wikipedia, Facebook, X, YouTube, and Reddit — with detailed per-probe DNS/TCP/TLS/TTFB timing breakdowns. Results expand automatically when your test finishes. RETRO CASSETTE TAPE INTERFACE A fully animated cassette tape mechanism with spinning reels that respond to your live throughput. Frosted glass controls, CRT scanline overlays, and a speaker grill pattern make every test feel like pressing play on your favorite mixtape. Set in the Guton Sans Serif typeface for a clean, geometric look. CONFIGURABLE & TRANSPARENT - Choose your test provider: Cloudflare, M-Lab NDT7, or both - Set test duration: auto, 15s, 30s, 1min, 2min, 5min, or 10min - Pick your speed unit: auto-detect, Mbps, Kbps, or Gbps - Auto-copy formatted results to clipboard when complete - Read the full "How It Works" article explaining every measurement technique - M-Lab tests require explicit data policy consent — your privacy is respected WHAT YOU GET - Download speed - Upload speed - Ping latency with P50/P95/P99 percentile breakdown - RFC 3550 jitter - Packet loss (NDT7) - Bufferbloat grade (A-F) - Connection stability rating - AIM quality scores (streaming, gaming, video calls) - DNS reachability across 12 domains with timing breakdown
