Fun Game Non pay to win

I expected AI slop…
Slow on screen reader, but otherwise pretty good
First AI Game That Is Worth Playing
The world building is engaging, the exploration runs are challenging with each decision having a tangible outcome, and the art style is a great fit. It’s completely unique and keeps me coming back more than anything else I’ve played recently.
The UI navigation needs a bit of getting used to, but after 15 min of play everything flows quite nicely. Also it needs music and sound but I’m sure that’ll come in time. Keep it up!

Points lost, Adventure missing
Response from developer
Sorry this happened, if you can let us know your player name we can refund you the points and then some for the irritation here. In the meantime, we are actively trying to debug this and should have a fix out ASAP. Do you happen to know if you were in a group while on your adventure? We recently fixed an issue with group adventures that could have caused this to happen.
Great Promise
The idea of evolving a world from its inception all the way to space age is fantastic, and AI really lends itself to the storytelling. I love the concept of choosing one story from each day to make “canon” to the world’s history. I also like the idea of the most active players setting global rules for their factions, encouraging others to follow them.
However, the awesome elements are held back by mechanics that feel cool in theory, but bad in execution. Most notably, the public worlds of others are cool, but with the extremely low rate at which points are earned, you never have the opportunity to spend them on anything other than furthering your own world’s history. I like the MMO elements, but think they work best in theory leaderboard and faction rules mechanic.
Similarly, you can adventure alongside someone else, and the point cost to do so is reduced, meaning the developers want you to do so. However, the process to adventure in such a way is clunky and the player base is currently too small to really explore this idea fully.
I also feel as though the option to make your world public or not is a nice quality of life update. Because an adventure is selected daily, if someone else adventures on your world while you are unable to do the same, their adventure is forced into the canon of your world, potentially changing the carefully crafted culture and history you have developed. Personally, I much prefer the roleplay and exploration of developing my world over the idea of sharing it with others, and would rather have it be private instead of running the risk of it evolving away from the direction I had intended.
Ultimately, much of the clunky elements of UI or otherwise can be written off by the developers being a small team. Some of the weird UI choices and player/management is clunky, and bugs persist (like a previous player character name persisting in fight sequences despite account deletion in order to build a new world and character), can all be excused and forgiven.
However, the slow rate of point gain and loosely defined daily reset time (the moment a selected adventure becomes the lore of your world) hinders the ability to engage. If the shop offered to immediately put something into the lore of the world (if you had multiple great adventures), it may end up encouraging more purchases. Likewise, increasing the passive point generation rate will also allow players to play around with the systems of the game some, allowing for adventures beyond just the one you must do to further your world. Buying point bundles are nice, but I don’t feel motivated to do so when I haven’t been able to experience what having points actually gets me.
To summarize: I enjoy the idea of this game immensely, and plan on sticking with it longer, but I can already tell my frustration at the slow rate of progress and low point generation is going to eventually grate on me. If someone decides to explore my world and change the lore, then all the slow and grueling progress I’ve made will feel as if it was pointless, and at which point I don’t see myself trying to fix it, but rather churning away from the game entirely.
I hope the game will be refined, as it has amazing potential and is unique among AI storytelling games, but in its current state I don’t see it maintaining interest for long, as its core design elements run the risk of undoing the work its players put into the game.

Thank you so much for the review--your feedback is very appreciated! As you correctly surmised, we are a small team, but you make a lot of great points and we are going to do our best to start incorporating many of your ideas here as soon as we can. Hopefully we do not let you down!
