Being a yarn addict, I’m always looking at a new skien or ball somewhere and wondering how much I’d need to make a (fill in the blank). This little app is my constant companion for a quick calc on that. Great for a general—and in my experience—pretty accurate guesstimate of yardage needed. Love it!
Quick and simple to use
Been using this app for years. Perfect for figuring out yarn amounts when I have no pattern in mind but love a particular yarn. Or if a pattern doesn’t include the information.

Indispensable calculator
As a knitter who buys yarn without a specific pattern in mind this app allows me to know how much yarn at a specific gauge I will need to complete the project. It saves buying too much yarn and having yarn left over that can’t be returned and also saves on playing yarn chicken. Highly recommended. And it works on a phone so it’s always available.

Good Idea Poor Execution
The idea to calculate the number of yards (and thus skeins) needed to do a project is great. The problem is this app is too limiting: • You can only select 3-8 stitches/inch • There’s no feature to enter the yarn weight (ex: 8oz yarn is significantly thicker than 2 oz yarn) • The calculation doesn’t determine number of skeins, only yardage. If there was a way to enter how many yards are on the skein of choice, the feature would be complete. • The calculation of yardage is incorrect. When I finally got a comparative pattern, the app was significantly higher: ———————— Manufacturer: ———————— 60”x70” Blanket — 13 skeins — 8oz weight yarn — 1 stitch/inch — 28 yards per skein — 364 total yards ———————— StashBot ———————— 60”x72” Blanket — Feature not available — Feature not available — Feature too limited (used 3 stitches/inch) — Feature not available — 2060 total yards (divided by 3 to determine 1 = 687 yards) So Greta idea, but poorly executed. And too not have a free trial to figure out this app didn’t do what I needed was just money flushed.

Can’t live without!
As a knitter, I wouldn’t want to live without this app ever again. It’s so accurate and I always buy the correct amount of yarn. I’m pretty sure it’s saved me quite some $$$ in excess yarn! 😍 Huge recommendation!
Total gamechanger
Been using this brilliant app for several years. In the yarnstore I can work out what meterage to buy when I don’t have a specific pattern in mind. At home I can calculate what I can make with yarn from my stash. It has prevented me wasting money buying more yarn than I need and the disappointment of guessing, only to subsequently find it’s not enough. Super easy to use and beautifully clear display. My absolute favourite knitting app - wouldn’t be without it.

Indispensible!
Stashbot is absolutely indispensible when shopping for yarn. I refer to it constantly when I find a special yarn or great deal and have a general idea what I’d like to make, but no specific pattern. After all, then you have the flexibility to find the right pattern AFTER you swatch!
Works great
I’ve been using this app for years to set the estimated yardages for new patterns before testing. After getting tester feedback I rarely have to adjust the yardages from what the app estimated!
STASHBOT ROCKS!
II usually knit my sweaters and socks without a pattern with the help of the book, “Knitting 101” for general size and measurent info. My sweaters are usually raglans or circular yoke so once you understand the formula with these types of sweaters (and that goes for socks, too) I find a pattern is not necessary unless the pattern I am knitting has a color work chart I want to use. I use this app as a jumping off point when I need to know how much yarn I will need. Very helpful indeed. Many thanks, STASHBOT, for developing this app! ❤️🧶❤️

This app is easy to use. When I don’t have a pattern in mind but I want to buy enough yarn for a future project, I always turn to this app for an estimate of how much yarn to buy. I can quickly see how far a potential purchase will go and decide if I want to make a large or small project. This is helpful when eyeballing some more expensive skeins.
