Terrible App

This app is okay when it works, but my water heater is constantly being deleted from my profile or if it is there, half the features don’t work at any given time. Fix the bugs and this would be great.

Signed out, forgot it all

Don’t rely on this app to control your water heater when away, because sometimes it will decide to sign you out and when you sign in, it says “Add heater”. And the only way to do that? Physically scan the sodding QR code that’s on the device you’re trying to remotely control. REMOTELY. Come on developers, do the basics. Oh, and if you could also expose it to Apple HomeKit and Google Home, or better yet, Matter, we’d all like that too.

13.0.7 forgot my water heater

Asking me to add my water heater again.

Keeps forgetting my device

When properly logged in - useful app in terms of settings and monitoring. However - it cannot remember my device. It remembers my login but every time I w add my to use the app - have to “add my device”.

Terrible app

Usage info is horrible , graph has wrong date for today, not able to get accurate info for sorting by period, shows lifetime usage with limited month, couldn’t be any less helpful. Just the day info is and frankly probably not. This app needs complete fixing! Like water heater but mfr should not have any app at all if this is all they can offer. F- rating for developer.

Horrible app

Horrible. Constantly logged out while using the app. Every couple of months water heater is removed app. 2 water heaters fail in less than 3 years.

Garbage app

This app is total garbage. It frequently drops my water heater forcing me to set it up again. Sometimes it reads the wrong data for volume of hot water. Also there are days at a time when the app can’t reach the server. The water heater is fine, but this app has not gotten better in well over a year. Needs a lot of improvement.

Unusable. Constantly having to re-add water heater, constantly getting signed out while in the app

Worst app

Where to begin? The app is unintuitive and hard to configure. It also signs you out occasionally, making you re-register with a long serial number to type in. It also doesn’t send important info via notifications like a major issue with the water heater. Huh? Finally, there was a “known issue” with the app showing the wrong water temperature which lasted at least a month or longer. Poor execution all around.

App Doesn’t Work At All

App is designed to do 2 things: scan a QR code and register a new hot water heater. The scan didn’t work at all and entering the serial number manually also didn’t work. The last thing was the customer service phone number referenced in the app also didn’t work. I had to go to the website to find a good number to call to complete the registration. Come on folks!!! How hard can this be? Even kids are writing mobile apps these days.

Constantly drops added heaters

The app constantly drops added water heaters, requiring you to go through the effort to re-register your device. How on earth is that information not just stored with the user name? Junk app.

Barely Usable App

Nearly every time I check the app, it says there is a service outage. I am regularly confused as to when the water heat levels were last synced so I cannot tell if they are accurate or not. It would be great to display that on the home page and give feedback (like a reload button) to refresh and state if it fails. Overall, a pretty bad customer experience when so many other smart home apps are well made and intuitive. I will probably search for another manufacturer in the future that has a better working app ecosystem. At least the energy usage probably works well. In fact, I tried to submit this feedback from inside the app and it was broken and wouldn’t allow me to submit, so I came here to the App Store.

13.0.2 reverted to working again

I have to give credit to the app team for recognizing their failures and reverting to an older UI that works.

Horrible app, great water heater

Although I like the actual water heater, this app is junk.
1. It always shows I only have 10% of hot water in the tank at all times;
2. The unit comes with a water leak detector module that sits in the bottom of the pan, so if the tank leaks, the unit sends me an alert . This is all well and good, but the alert goes to the app on my iPhone and just sits there. There is no push notification like a text message, email or automated phone call. Does State expect me to check my app every day to see if my water heater is leaking? I called the customer support line and they said “oh, we don’t control the app, that’s a third party that we have no control over.” What?? You can’t control (or improve) your own app??
3. In the Notification section of Settings on the iPhone, there is no State app showing up. I can’t change the notification setting because there’s no app to change.
To the State company: If you’re reading this, look at the poor rating of this app. Don’t you think it’s worth having a developer MAKE IT BETTER??

Two main issues

I hope these can be fixed. One issue where the display of the percentage of hot water available is switched with the available cold water. When we don’t use hot water it display 10% hot water available. When we use a lot of hot water it displays a higher percentage of hot water available. Second issue where the usage data always reads “Unable to load energy usage data”

Lacking and inaccurate

Despite having plenty of hot water, our app is now reporting 10% - 20% hot water at all times.

New App Issue

The new app does not accurately so hot water available. It never goes above 10%.

Not accurate

App doesn’t show accurate estimate to how much hot water is left.

Specifically doesn’t work right for heat pump water heater.

You would think they would test this. Seems like others with a heat pump see the same thing - only shows 10 to 20% hot water available.
