User reviews

Works great

Only complaint is I would like drop down menus to select inputs instead of the five pairs.

Excellent App, great for interpolation

Excellent App, great for interpolation, saves a lot of time doing homework and looking up steam tables!

Awsome

Perfect for chemical engineering students, cant wait to see the future upgrades on how more efficient it can be

Elegant, useful, bargain

As a senior engineer who relies on steam tables, I find this the most useful app on the iPhone--and that says a lot. Haven't run into innacuracy in u yet, but I don't use u much anyway. I recommend it highly.

Superheat

Please update this app to include the amount of Superheat, yes I can subtract it myself but why ? It's in the Steam Tables book and should be in here too. Other than that a great app, thanks.

FAQ

What are the main formulations used by Steam?

Steam utilizes both the IAPWS Industrial Formulation 1997 (IF97) and the 1967 IFC-Formulation for Industrial Use (IFC-67) for its property calculations. This ensures compatibility with both modern and older industry standards.

Can I save my calculations in Steam?

Yes, you can save your calculations to review them later or to compare differences between the IF97 and IFC-67 formulations. This feature is useful for tracking progress and analyzing results.

Does Steam support different units of measurement?

Absolutely. Steam allows you to switch instantly between imperial (psia, F, Btu/lbm, etc.) and metric (kPa, C, kJ/kg, etc.) engineering units. You can also customize these unit sets and convert outputs between them.

What kind of properties can Steam calculate?

Steam can calculate a wide range of properties including specific enthalpy, entropy, internal energy, volume, density, heat capacity, isentropic exponent, speed of sound, thermal conductivity, dynamic viscosity, kinetic viscosity, Prandtl number, and surface tension for various steam conditions.

How does Steam handle out-of-range input values?

When input values fall outside the allowable range for calculations, Steam will display this information to the user. This helps prevent errors and ensures the accuracy of the results.

What is the age rating for Steam?

Steam has an age rating of 4+, making it suitable for a wide range of users. The app's content is generally appropriate for children and adults.

On which devices can I use Steam?

Steam is supported on both iPhone and iPad devices. This allows for flexibility in where and how you perform your property calculations.

How often is Steam updated?

The latest version of Steam is 2.0.0, which was last updated on April 14, 2026. While this date is in the future, it indicates ongoing development and support for the application.
