AI-based, high subscription fees, and false advertising.
Last week I discovered that the stories are generated entirely utilizing AI. The app was also built using AI.
I find this marketing strategy to be incredibly deceptive. So many individuals have concerns over AI and it’s environmental impacts. Nowhere is it stated in the app catalog or the countless promotional videos it relies on AI.
I was really excited for this app at first I downloaded it and uninstalled it when I found out it was $6.99 a week resulting in $28 a month more than your standard streaming services. I want to say it’s $10 short of AppleOne family that includes AppleMusic, AppleTV, and Cloud storage for your family. It costs much more than a majority of streaming platforms.
I then reinstalled it and started to use it. Stella routinely pronounced my name wrong no matter how many times I provided that feedback. It got to the point where I requested not to say my name in the stories — it didn’t listen. I broke down the pronunciation and it didn’t respond to that either. I don’t know how I’m supposed to be envisioning something as my future self when my name isn’t even pronounced correctly.
Stella also misgendered me on a handful of occasions even though my gender/pronouns were in there. After stating my sexuality was queer, Stella originally only generated love stories for a heterosexual person. They were all generated with he/him pronouns. I put in a customization for that change. And what is the point of having options for your name if it’s going to be pronounced incorrectly, for reference my name in there is Andi. When I said it’s pronounced “and-i” please use that version, it pronounced my name incorrectly with then it explaining how he pronounced it just the way I like with literally saying “And I” rather than “Andi”. It was a major turnoff.
I still continued to use the app in the beliefs it could be working.
The stories though are like all the sudden I have this perfect life and I’m not saying it’s not possible. I’m saying it leaves no room for humanity. I started to find it a bit weird or hearing these stories like this isn’t me or the life I want. I mean what I wrote yes, the way it’s told, no. I felt like it landed me disconnected/ unrelatable to 90% of society.
It was the AI-generated storytelling in comparison to price point and then absence of data privacy that resulted in my deletion of my account.
Applications that have top of the line developers don’t even charge this much. Sarah, the founder, constantly talks about being a self-made millionaire while neglecting the fact that her services are significantly above average in costs. It’s one thing to be a self-made millionaire and it’s another to be taking advantage of your consumer.
For an app that was primarily based in AI, a year long subscription is $361. My subscription to Headspace is $100 a year and the Chani app is $120-130 a year — neither of them use AI.
I did use the application for a few weeks or a month. Then I discovered how it is entirely reliant on AI with completely false and deceptive marketing.
They say not to tell your manifestations and dreams to everyone. Well on AI-generated applications such as this they go into a larger database and could be extracted for usage. There is no user privacy and they are your dreams.
If you had an amazing business idea, business plan, or opportunity, it will be uploaded and stored in their cloud, software center to be accessed by anyone at a later day. Thus it can take your proprietary ideas as their own.
The support page is a GitHub website. It’s not even a genuine support page. It returns you to a primary coding platform.
At first I thought Stella was designed by software engineers and coders, I thought there was advanced coding language involved to generate the stories, such as how Siri or Alexa will talk to you. It is not. It is entirely generated via artificial intelligence.
In short, your data isn’t safe on here, your dreams can be taken for someone else’s use.
I’m most of all completely discouraged and disappointed by the fact that the extent of the AI-usage of this app is completely hidden and masked from the consumer.

100% get it!
Ok, I don’t usually write reviews but omg I love this app. I’ve followed the creator on tiktok for years, and wow this app is genius!!! Thank you!!!
Bruh
Went through the whole personalization process just for it to not give me the story and instead make me pay $6 PER WEEK 😑
Wow
I have had this app for less than and hour, I’ve listened to 3-4 stories and have been balling my eyes out like literally not even joking. It feels so real and litterally makes me cry from happiness… already. I believe this is the tool I have been wishing for as just the last small stepping stone to my manifestations.
The only dilemma I’ve had is that it pronounces my SP name funny cause it’s spelled a little different (I love the way his name is spelled in ways words cannot discribe lol) so I have to right it how everyone else spells the “normal” version of it but if I’m just listening to the stories it copies that and helps immensely it’s just seeing it written weird (“normal”) is a little off for me lol but I just put the phone down and listen and it brings the whole vision to life just how it’s supposed to.

Same old thing
It’s another one of those manifestation apps that ask you a ton of questions and then make you pay before you can even try it out. Also, it’s kinda expensive! The app seems like a cool idea but I am going to stick with apps like Repetition that don’t make you log in, don’t ask you a ton of questions, and don’t make you pay anything without trying it out.
