About
Walk first. Scroll later.
StepFirst turns your daily steps into screen time. Choose the apps that eat your day, set a step goal, and StepFirst keeps them locked until you walk it off. Hit your goal and your apps unlock for the time you chose. When that time runs out, they lock again.
No willpower required. Just a short walk between you and the feed.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Pick your distractions. Choose individual apps, whole categories like Social or Games, or websites using Apple's built-in Screen Time picker.
2. Set your plan. Choose a step goal from 50 to 2,000 steps and how much time each goal earns, from 5 minutes to 2 hours.
3. Walk to unlock. Reach your goal and your apps open up. When your allowance ends, they lock again until your next walk.
FEATURES
- Native app blocking: Uses Apple's Screen Time framework, so locked apps are shielded by iOS itself.
- Branded lock screen: Opening a locked app shows your current step goal with a one-tap shortcut back to StepFirst.
- Live progress ring: See steps walked toward your goal update in real time.
- Allowance countdown: Always know how much unlocked time you have left.
- Unlock alerts: Get notified the moment you've earned your time.
- Built for every text size: Fully supports Dynamic Type.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
StepFirst runs entirely on your iPhone. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no servers. Your step count is read from your iPhone's motion sensor and never leaves the device. Thanks to Apple's Screen Time privacy protections, StepFirst can't even see which apps you chose to lock.
Requires Screen Time and Motion & Fitness permissions.
Take the stairs. Walk the dog. Pace during a call. Every step gets you closer to your apps, and further from mindless scrolling.
