StepUp is a social pedometer app designed to make fitness fun by tracking your daily steps, distance covered, floors climbed, and calories burned. It allows you to compete with friends and colleagues in step challenges, helping you stay motivated and active together. The app aims to encourage users to walk more, lose weight, and feel great.
The app automatically tracks your steps using your phone's built-in sensor, with no impact on battery life and no GPS usage. You can then create or join groups for step challenges and see real-time leaderboards to compete with friends, family, or colleagues. You can cheer each other on and stay motivated through healthy competition.
The app is free to download and use for tracking steps and competing in challenges. However, it does offer in-app purchases, which may unlock additional features or customization options. The core functionality of step tracking and social challenges is available for free.
StepUp works with any smartphone without additional devices or setup. It also syncs with Apple Health, allowing it to receive step data from a wide range of wearables like Apple Watch, Fitbit, Garmin, Google Fit, Samsung Health, and many others. This ensures seamless integration with your existing fitness ecosystem.
Common use cases include personal fitness tracking to encourage more daily walking and weight loss, friendly competitions among friends and family, and team-building exercises in workplaces, schools, and gyms. It's also used by PTs, doctors, and non-profits for community engagement and promoting healthy lifestyles.
