Paid for no ad version and I still get ads

Paid for no ads version and still get the ads...also feels like I am always being asked to buy upgrades. I just want to play a fun game on my iPad. Is that too much to ask? Looks like it would be a sweet game if I can get through the pop up stuff / gauntlet of ads and upgrade ads.
