Great study tool. Would love dark mode support. The UI can be pretty bright when I have migraines. The higher levels can also feel like kind of a slog. I’ve personally broken HSK 5 down into HSK 5上/下as best I’ve been able to so that I can limit my study to words I am currently learning in my HSK standard course books more easily. An alternative solution would be a sorted study order for new words, ideally sourced from the HSK standard books in order by chapter. Word selection currently feels random for new words.

Flash card definitions cut off
For some reason after the update the flash cards aren’t displaying the entire definitions. The bottom of the entire second line is cut off making them unreadable. I paid for this app and it’s currently unusable. Please help. Thank you.

Amazing
I’ve been using this app for years and it is hands-down the most useful and best performing SRS app with the perfect balance of features and simplicity. I really wish the dev would keep working on StickyStudy.
Fantastic
There is a lot in this app! A huge amount of vocabulary, very well organized. I would have been happy to pay more for it if I’d known how much it had in it. Very well designed.
No Audio
This app says there is native speaker recorded audio. I have not heard or been able to play a single audio recording for any words. The flash card interface is nice but not worth paying for without audio. How are you supposed to know how to pronounce all these new words????

My spoken Chinese is at an advanced level (it should be, after 30 years of daily speaking). But I haven't really needed to read that much. But over the past few years, I decided to re-learn the characters and especially to improve my vocabulary in certain areas such as medical and legal.
After trying various methods from just casual study (a pretty poor method, with no goals or plans) to reading news apps (a pretty good method, but unorganized and time-consuming) to reading novels (difficult, at best), I found StickyStudy.
Having been exposed to countless different learning methods over the last three decades, I can say this is by far the best I have ever found. Obviously we didn't have apps back when I started learning, but I did use flashcards, and it's great that this app uses that paradigm. I think the SRS study algorithm is genius – continually reviewing the characters I've missed works great. The interface of the app is very polished and clean.
I really like the ability to import my own decks. Most good flashcard apps allow this, and StickyStudy gives some good options for that, although it's a little confusing to figure out at first. I've created my own decks of legal and medical terms from lists I've found on the web.
By the way, if you're a brand new learner of Chinese, this might not be the best app to begin with. Use Duo Lingo or something to get the basics of conversation and grammar, then come to this app to learn characters and vocabulary.
I wholeheartedly give it 5 stars; it's well worth the small price, but I do have a few ideas for improvement.
1) Many characters have more than one pronunciation or tone. StickyStudy usually only shows one of those, but it would be nice to see all, or at least the most common. The various pronunciations are all in Pleco, but it's a hassle to switch back and forth between apps.
2) This app works well by showing the character in large type at the top, with the answer in small type below that. You can switch to see the answer first, but it's still in small type. It would be nice if the English were in large type at top when you're going that direction.
3) I'd love to have the radical descriptions shown like in Pleco. That's the best way to learn characters – by knowing the radicals. If there were a way to tap a small icon to display the radicals (with the main and supporting radicals differentiated) that would be very helpful.
4) An alternative to having the radicals displayed as I've described, would be to have a separate card deck for learning the radicals, although my description above is the preferred choice.
5) I gather that this used to be available as a stand-alone flashcard app. The developer should release that again because this can be used for any language or other studying you're doing. The SRS algorithm is something other flashcard apps don't have.

Better now with updates, less crashes.
Wouldn’t open. Tried downloading again and still won’t open.
Used to crash whenever I tried to open. Would get to the logo screen after clicking it, but would crash before fully opening.

178 memorized in 5 hours
I don’t know if that’s fast or slow. But after struggling for years with Chinese, this level of success has me excited. Only 5 hours throughout 1 week on this app, I learned 178 Chinese Hanzi. On to HSK2. Compared to other flash card apps, this deserves 5 stars.
However, I did spend a lot of time flipping back and forth between StickyStudy and Pleco. For me, understanding which RADICALS compose the particular Hanzi character is huge! After I viewed some flash cards 14x and still couldn’t remember, I figured out to use Pleco to lookup the character’s radicals. Radicals tell the story, remember the story, and retention skyrockets. Radicals also often provide some hint as to pronunciation.
If StickyStudy included the individual radicals (+radical pinyin and definition) with each card...wow! I could fly twice as fast.

The audio doesn’t work.
No one should try to learn a new language without hearing the words pronounced correctly. I only bought the app because it said it had audio, but it doesn’t work.

Been searching a long time for an app like this! I use ANKI everyday, but this fits a very important and different style. Interface is super clean and you can instantly select and see cards that you’re struggling with instantly on a single page. Has audio for most files and is simply awesome. Super excited to rip through vocabulary using this program!

Best flash card app for Chinese hands down
This app is exceptional. It comes with cards for HSK L1-L6 and TOCFL L1-L4. If you’re a beginner and don’t know what that means, the TAOCFL set is 11,000+ cards. The cards are rendered in a bright, clean format, and each card has sound.
Even more amazing was how easily I could create my own card decks. If you do this yourself, note that the sounds are linked to the Pinyin number section and not the Pinyin tone section of the card.

The ultimate learning app for HSK study
Wow! Finally, after trying so many apps in the past, I have come to find THE greatest app. The developer used a lot of ingenious ideas to create this app, and for that I congratulate him. This app is the real deal. So simple, yet so effective at helping you memorize those difficult words. I can definitely say that it's worth paying for it.

Indispensable Chinese learning app
Pay this man his money! This app is beautifully designed and well-used. If you need to pass the HSK or just want to increase your character recognition skills (simplified or traditional), this is the app you've been looking for. All the others (and I've tried a lot of them) are jokes compared to Sticky Study.

Best Chinese Flashcards
This is the best flashcard app for learning Chinese. HSK vocabulary sets come with the app, but you can also customize it by adding your own flashcards and creating your own decks. Most of the words come with both example usage and sounds. I tried making my own flashcards at first, but it took too long and it wasn't spending nearly enough time on just studying. This app is so easy to use. I love that you can set goals for learning a deck within a certain amount of time. The program tells you how many cards you need to get right each day to stay on schedule. I have spent my life trying to learn to read chinese, and I am finally doing it in an organized way. I am spending just fifteen minutes a day with this app and can see substantial progress in my reading abilities. Other Chinese vocabulary apps require you to learn exact translations of words, which I find to be an inefficient way of learning. This app doesn't do that. It's better than using real flashcards.

I prefer it over Anki
I've used Anki for a while but the customizations can become complicated. My flash cards were piling up and it was becoming unmanageable. This app is beautiful, really easy to use, and the graphics make the words tangible for visual learners like myself.
However, if the developers are reading this: please update the icon!! It does not reflect how nice the app is, which makes a difference if you're taking a chance and paying money for it. It needs to be sleeker and simplified to match the other common apps on my home screen. Otherwise, 5 stars & would recommend!

Great app...but....
This is by far the best app to learn chinese and I believe it is a five star concept. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn chinese. The only criticism i have is there are a few errors in the words and some of the audio files dont work. Even so, i have been with this app for 2 updates and each update has made improvements and fixed some of the errors. In conclusion, this is still the best app for anyone wanting to learn chinese and i highly recommend it.

Best Chinese flash cards
This is the best app I've found for studying Chinese hanzi with flash cards. There is audio for those of us studying without native speakers and the option to customize cards (traditional vs simplified for main display or pinyin number vs accent tones for pinyin display) as well as the option to create new cards. The algorithm used to handle "new" and "learned" entries has really improved my learning speed. I also love the "map" layout of the main browse screen, which allows me to see my progress at a glance. Good value for my $!

Good app
It is a good layout and the studying has definitely helped me to keep up with things while on the go. I can't believe I spent hours writing down Japanese kanji years ago Kudos to the creator, it is a good effort and very helpful.
I have encountered more than a few errors, however (wrong pinyin, wrong pronunciations, etc.) I know that there is an edit feature to manually make text corrections, but I hope that we will see some revisions done in future versions. Particularly since this is a slightly more premium price for an app.

An amazing HSK study app
I can speak and understand Chinese, but can't read or write. I was looking for an app to help prepare me for HSK level 3 reading and writing. It not only had to be easy to use, but also comprehensive with the vocabulary. This app did the job. I took the test today and this app was the only study tool I used (other than sample practice tests). Slightly expensive, but a good study aid.
Suggested improvements:
- missing a few vocab words like 故事 and 知道
- ability to create new deck from select cards rather than select decks
- option to "study" through entire deck without repeating any previous cards
- don't spend time updating Dropbox option. Not an important feature.
- bug: after you search for a word in the search bar, when you touch to select it, it doesn't actually go to the card you selected.
