20 articles a week for free, after that you have to subscribe! Absolute joke of an app.

Not a patch on the Sentinel of old

Live updates always promised but usually the article still shows that hours later. Also a very poor moderating tool is used to disable comments with one word out of place. If your reading this review and thinking of paying the £20 fee my advice would be don’t bother, I’ve just cancelled my subscription for next year, just wish I had done for this year.

Poor Sentinel Substitute

App in itself works though recently changes have made it less easy to use. Main issue is standard of the con-tent - stories syndicated from other areas, stories repeated on regular basis - shown to be current. Stems from issue of no local office and the running down of local newspapers. Dodgy links to advertising. Shame limited ways to access local newspapers. Other apps seem to have reliable content eg MEN and Derbyshire live but not SOT Live.

Don’t Bother

Don’t bother with this app the news is usually old and on other occasions doesn’t even relate to North Staffordshire. They limit the number of articles you can view each week just to try and make you take out an expensive subscription.

Impossible to read. Pages keep crashing

There are so many adverts getting in the way that the pages keep crashing, making this app impossible to read.
Looking back through the comments on here, this problem has been going on for more than a year and despite repeated developer messages saying “the issue is fixed”, it never is.
How useless are the app’s developers? They can’t fix their own app and they think customers are stupid and will be palmed off with “oh, we’ve fixed it”.
Well, developers, here’s a clue to actually, really fixing this app: stop trying to squeeze so many damned adverts in. They are causing the problem.
The advertisers can’t be happy with you anyway - as no one sees their ads. And readers certainly aren’t happy.
The solution is not exactly rocket science…

Hi there, you can edit your tabbed navigation by adding any topic you like from the Discover View, this includes tabs for Stoke City and Port Vale, among many others. Tap the Discover Tab at the bottom of the screen, then tap the plus button next to any topic you want to see in your tabbed navigation. Or simply view that topic by tapping its name. There are many new features in the app, including Tag navigation, simply tap any Tag at the top of any article, to view more related content. We hope you will reconsider your review. Problem Configuring Your App 🙈

Since updating the app I can’t even open it let alone use it…. All I get now is 👉There Was A Problem Configuring Your App👈 tried deleting & reinstalling but still the same problem 😏

Problem was quickly solved so re-reviewing to give 5⭐️

Since update 2 days ago app not working

Since the version update two days ago now, SOT live will not work on my iPhone 14. Can’t even contact support because you have to contact them through the app so hope SOTLive looks at these reviews so they know that the app is not working. Keeps coming up with

There was a problem configuring the app and to refresh.

But the app won’t refresh. Even deleted and reinstalled but now won’t work. Help.!!!

Broken app

Very disappointed in the latest version of the app, which refuses to run and halts at a screen which says that there is a problem configuring the app.
Removed app and reinstalled, but the problem persists.

Suddenly won’t configure

I have used this app daily and since the update i get a message to say the app can’t be configured. My husband has no issue on his iPad. I can’t use the app on either my iPad or iPhone. Really disappointing

Disappointed

I have found the app ok until the latest update when I just get a message saying ‘unable to configure app’. Have tried deleting and reinstalling the app but no joy.

Update rendered app useless

Update of app to version 9.3.2 now it doesn't work at all. Just get front page asking to press refresh but nothing happens. Yet another case of if it ain't broke don't fix it!
