Has some issues

Doesn’t seem to use the full brightness of the iPhone, even with the paid features unlocked and the higher brightness setting on. Frequency doesn’t seem entirely accurate either.

Response from developer

To increase the brightness of the built-in flash, I need to increase the flash duration. This results in more blurriness of the mark. You can connect an external flashlight with a higher power. In addition to increasing the brightness, this will also result in a more consistent time interval between flashes. You can also use my other app, Video Tachometer.

Love it so paid for it

This was exactly the app I was looking for to create a strobe light effect to set up my turntable. The free version is actually fine, but I liked it enough that I felt I should pay for it. All the other strobe apps I tried were awful in comparison.

FAQ

What does the Strobe Tachometer app do?

This app allows you to measure the rotational speed of objects using your phone's built-in flashlight as a strobe, or by utilizing a laser or the phone's magnetic sensor. It helps you determine RPMs by synchronizing light flicker frequency with object rotation.

What are the different measurement modes available?

The app offers three primary modes: a strobe tachometer that uses the phone's flashlight, a laser tachometer for more precise measurements (requires external laser), and a magnetic tachometer that uses the phone's magnetometer to detect spinning magnets.

How accurate are the measurements?

The strobe tachometer offers high precision with an accuracy of 0.0001 Hz (0.01 RPM). The laser tachometer also provides precise measurements, while the magnetic tachometer is best suited for lower speeds with a measurement step of 0.2-2%.

What is the measurement range for each mode?

The strobe tachometer can measure up to 60,000 RPM with an external flashlight and up to 6,000 RPM with the iPhone flashlight. The laser tachometer ranges from 18 RPM to 60,000 RPM, and the magnetic tachometer measures from 6 RPM to 2,700 RPM.

Is this app free to use?

The app is free to download and use with its core functionalities. However, it offers in-app purchases, which may unlock additional features or enhance the measurement capabilities.
