Its alright

Starting the app and I start on the tenses lesson, at first I wasn’t really sure what was going on as it would give the ability to select an answer but there was only one choice so it was impossible to get the answer wrong, later more multiple choices appear but this wasn’t obvious at the beginning.

When the other multiple choices appear the selections don’t make a lot of sense tbh as even with the vaguest of Japanese knowledge you can infer the correct answer… in tenses for example, it should really provide all selectable answers stating the same answer but in the various tenses and with you selecting the correct tense based on the English presented but that’s not the case here…. So as a result you don’t really absorb the actual content of the lesson… more often than not I’ll just look at the first word and hit the answer as the other possible answers are completely unrelated thus I’ve bypassed the point of the lesson. Not only that but some of the answers in this category don’t even relate to tenses at all but are just general vocab, “nice to meet you” and “later” and so on … sure useful for beginners but irrelevant to the lesson at hand.

Like the other reviewer stated, I also get the impression the conversations taking place are overly casual, in which case it might be a good idea to make that known in the app itself.

Formatting issues, possibly as a result of screen size but some words are split up in strange ways (even though there is plenty of room to display on one line) as well as the kana not appearing directly above the corresponding sentence can make it tricky to read.

Conversations themselves seem fun and I’m sure you could pick up some bits and bobs with this app but can’t help thinking it could be so much better 😢

Not able to play it

I downloaded it, I went to try it and none of the functions would work..

So helpful!

I thought the app was very very helpful for a beginner like me, the speaking was a little off but was still very educational!

ok for beginners, accent’s not good

while the format is not horrible (though a quiz like format is.. kind of tense and difficult to learn with) especially with beginners,
the accent of the male voice ESPECIALLY is not good. this can affect a new learner’s ability to speak properly, as the phonetics are not right. just changed how high or low of a pitch you go with a vowel can change a word or sentence completely, and teaching this to beginners is very harmful to their learning. while the intention is good, the audio should be of a fluent speaker so that the learner doesn’t pick up bad habits.
