Dear MB6954, It's our pleasure! We love working with the stuttering community. Stutter Stars was built in collaboration with past members of the American Board of Stuttering, Cluttering, and Fluency. Our aim is to create a supportive and motivating environment for all communicators. Keep up the hard work and please reach out if you ever have any questions about any of the strategies or the science behind the exercises. Sincerely, Erich erich@sayitlabs.com
There is no 3-Day free trial before charge
Response from developer
Dear Jpkilla81, We have always had a free trial for as long as the Stutter Stars app has been on the App Store. We are a group of speech and language pathologists who have shed sweat blood and tears to create an evidence-based app for chlldren who stutter. We stand by our work and have never had the intention to take advantage of any group, let alone those seeking support with communication. The reason for the trial not working is news to us. We'll seek support from Apple immediately to understand how this may have happened. In the meantime, it may be more productive to reach out to us directly. We're happy to provide the best support possible. Sincerely, Erich erich@sayitlabs.com
Love it! only used demo so far

Hi adda11441, Thank you for sharing that! A turtle is indeed a wonderful metaphor for slow, steady speech. For Gemma, though, we decided on a frog — she ‘stretches’ sounds, which helps children practice lengthening words in a playful and engaging way. It’s wonderful to hear that the overall character design and accents reminded you of Finding Nemo — that sense of fun and encouragement is exactly what we wanted to capture.

Thanks Skksisksisieis. Stutter Stars was co-created with leading fluency experts to support children who stutter. The game brings together the most common fluency strategies in one fun, engaging place.
Sound in the game is preventing me from progressing.

Dear MichelleT31, My deepest apologies. I understand how frustrating this feels. Fortunately the three dots was a bug that has since been resolved. Please reach out to erich@sayitlabs.com and I will be more than happy to get you and your daughter back on track. Sincerely, The Stutter Stars team
Question
Response from developer
Dear JJ_safari, thanks for your questions. The short answer is 'yes'. While Stutter Stars was created for children ages 6-13 who stutter, adults can benefit too. We tested the video game with adults during the pandemic with the goal of measuring any improvements in speech and were delighted to see wonderful changes for those who practiced every day. The nice thing about adults is that they (generally) see beyond the colorful images and animal characters and seem fascinated with the idea that this is a voice-controlled video game dedicated to stuttering. If you ever want more information please reach out to erich@sayitlabs.com. We're happy to offer greater insights. Best wishes, Erich CCC-SLP and the Stutter Stars team!
SLPs should be aware
Response from developer
Dear Witch in the Ditch. Thanks for your feedback. Stutter Stars has a very holistic approach to practicing motor speech for fluency including precision fluency shaping, fluency modification, mindfulness, and prosody. While it’s true that prolongation is a stapled trait of a fluency disorder, stretching out sounds to extend the vocalic segment improves fluency outcomes. See "Prolonged Speech and Modification of Stuttering" by Ingham, R. J., & Onslow, M. (1985). Journal of Speech and Hearing Research, 28(3), 343-356 as an example of how the research can offer benefits. As mentioned, Stutter Stars employs many techniques to work on fluency and naturalness, among other aspects. It’s important to understand the scientific reasoning and implementation. I would encourage you to experience the entire game to see exactly how it works. Fluency disorders are complex and require time and practice. As for the speech recognition, we are continuously working to improve speech accuracy. Really appreciate your feedback. Best wishes, Erich CCC-SLP and the rest of the Stutter Stars Team

Dear tobsterino, I would love to hear about your experience so we can make it better. We tested this game in particular with many live participants, but there can still be a lot to learn. Please feel free to reach out at hello@sayitlabs.com and we'd be happy to go through the entire game, the challenges you had, and the interactions of the tech with the therapy.
Horrible for my child please read

Dear konekokittenwastwken, I'm sorry to read this. I'm not entirely sure what the cow was saying that was misleading. The game is created by SLPs and in collaboration with past members of American Board of Fluency and Fluency Disorders. We would welcome the opportunity to better understand your experience and right any wrongs. We're working hard to make this a highly positive and interactive experience. Dear FerretyFerret. Thank you for your kind words. How fantastic to hear about your positive experience with Stutter Stars. Knowing that it's become a go-to tool in your therapy sessions is incredibly rewarding to hear. That's been one of our aims since we started developing this game. We know that stuttering can present unique challenges, and having a resource like Stutter Stars that engages and supports clients in their speech goals, and that incorporates evidence based research is what we have been working to achieve.
Life-changing app for my kid
Not sure how the tech works but the speech recognition technology provides real-time feedback on my kid’s speech patterns, helping him identify areas for improvement. It's like having a dedicated speech therapist right at our fingertips!
The best part? We were able to try it for free! Downloading the app was a breeze, and my child instantly dove into the game on the first island. It made speech therapy fun but also I can see it instilled a sense of confidence in him. I’m surprised that the game can keep my child engaged and motivated.
I can't express enough how grateful I am for Stutter Stars' automatic reporting feature. It generates comprehensive reports that provide valuable insights into my child's progress. Whether it's for my kid’s speech therapist, teachers, or simply for my own understanding, these reports offer a snapshot of their performance and highlight the words that he mastered or need a little more assistance with.
The app offers both Story Mode and Practice Mode, catering to different learning preferences. The Story Mode takes my kid on an exciting journey through the game world, while the Practice Mode allows him to focus on specific techniques. It's all about empowering him with choices and ensuring that his voice is heard.
The "Science" button within each part of the game has been a true eye-opener. It provides us with informative videos explaining the reasoning behind each practice, and we love the additional tips and facts that are always at our fingertips. It's like having a mini speech therapy session in our pocket!
Stutter Stars covers a wide range of techniques, from breathing exercises for mindfulness to practicing all speech sounds under pressure. What gives me confidence in this app is the team behind it – speech recognition engineers who have closely consulted with experts in the field of speech therapy. Their dedication and collaboration with professionals and people who stutter truly shine through.
If you're a parent like me, searching for a life-changing app to support your kid’s stuttering journey, look no further. Witnessing my kid’s progress and newfound confidence has been priceless.

Greatly appreciate your review and thank you for playing our speech therapy game! When we designed our app for stuttering support, we wanted to make sure that we provided the tools and techniques that are part of speech therapy, but in a really fun way. Happy to hear that you have made progress with Stutter Stars! Hope you have a chance to explore all the other islands so that you can continue to learn and practice other speech therapy techniques.
A life changing game
The techniques are immediately applicable to real world situations and get to see tangible results from your practice in game.
While targeted towards children this app is truly for anyone who stutters.
I can’t recommend it enough.

Best speech game ever!
Response from developer
Thank you so much for giving our speech therapy app a try! We are very happy to hear that your daughter has made such progress playing the game and hope she continues to feel better about speaking. We designed Stutter Stars with the understanding that there are some limitations to a speech therapy session and wanted to expand the opportunity for practice. We want to provide speech therapy techniques as tools for users of our app so that they can be equipped and empowered to become better communicators. We greatly appreciate your review and recommendation of Stutter Stars!
