Due to strict DRM restrictions, most major streaming platforms either refuse to start video playback entirely on iPhone mobile browsers or force you to open their native apps, where iOS sandbox policies prevent any third-party subtitle translation. However, Web Browser mode works seamlessly on iPad because iPadOS features a full desktop-class browser engine that platforms treat just like a computer, allowing smooth playback and live subtitle capture. Regarding the subtitle translation quality, Subtify is built with strict on-device privacy and relies entirely on Apple’s native Translation framework using offline downloaded language packs. The translation output is generated directly by Apple’s built-in neural models on your device, and we look forward to future OS updates from Apple bringing further improvements to those offline models. For the best experience with streaming platforms, strongly recommend using Subtify on an iPad.
