What's New in Sumaddle

2.8.0

August 3, 2026

This version includes some upgraded puzzle packs and various small improvements. The changes in detail: • Many of the puzzles in the Scary puzzle pack category have been replaced with new puzzles that reflect the difficulty ratings more accurately. This applies to puzzles in the Assorted and Very Difficult packs, as well as the free selection. Players who already played the puzzles in these packs can now enjoy playing all the new puzzles at no extra cost. • When a group of squares is selected using a drag gesture, any gaps in the same row or column are automatically filled, if possible. This works the same way as when a clue value is tapped, so blocks are added automatically if the number of empty squares exactly matches the number of missing blocks, or empty squares are populated with candidate values if two blocks are already present. • When a group of squares is selected using a drag gesture, the combinations for the corresponding row or column are always shown automatically, even if no combinations were already showing. • Fine tuning to the way the puzzle generator determines the difficulty of a new puzzle when running in Advanced and Expert play modes. • The setting that allowed the puzzle generator to use permutation logic with “no limits” has been dropped. This used to be a way of generating more difficult puzzles, but the puzzle generator is now capable of generating very difficult puzzles without needing to resort to such measures. Puzzles that involved elaborate permutation checks were usually not much fun to solve anyway. • More improvements to help explanations. • Styling change to the panel showing the points scored for a completed puzzle. This panel now looks more like a button (iOS 26 and above). Tapping the panel is a quick way to view the leaderboard - this has always been the case, but until now it was less apparent that the panel is tappable.

Fun game but it kind of solves itself

The game itself is fun! It could be a nice challenge and a great brain teaser, if it didn’t give you all the answers.

When you click a box to fill it, it shows all the number options you can choose inside that box. The issue is when you have already used that number in the row or column, it takes that number out the box and only shows available numbers. After you solve a few numbers, it pretty much has the puzzle solved for you. I don’t want a hint unless I have trouble solving the puzzle but you get one with every box. There is no way to turn this off. I messaged support to ask if I was just missing a setting and they confirmed it can’t be turned off.

Because you can use as many hints as you need, this function just feels kind of in the way and for no reason. With the 5x5 puzzles when you figure out 1 or 2 boxes, the game gives you the rest of the answers. There is still a good challenge to the 7x7 ones if you can ignore the hints! I’m kind of forcing myself to ignore the hints but then my adhd kicks in and I can’t help but notice, and it just kind of is annoying.

If it weren’t for that this would probably be my favorite number puzzle game! I considered paying for the extra puzzles when I finish the free ones but I just can’t pay for it to just give me the answers.

If this doesn’t bother you then you will find this game fun for sure!!

Response from developer

Hi tb02830 and thanks for your review. It's true that the app doesn't let you set a duplicate number on a square. So when you are near the end of a game, there may not be many numbers to choose from and it might seem like it is leading you to the solution. But by this stage, the puzzle is probably cracked already, so it is just a matter of wrapping up the solution by filling in the blanks. In order to get this far, there will always be some crucial steps that you will need to figure out without the app leading the way. Hope that helps to explain why the app provides the level of automation that it does.

Love it!

I wish there were be more game like this!

Excellent logic game. Clean design.

I love a good logic game, and this is my new favourite. Fair prices too. No ads or other rubbish.

Brilliant puzzle game

So satisfying, like Sudoku, like Wordle, like Codewords, like Betweenle, I love these puzzles!

obsessive

i play this game obsessively! it’s somewhat difficult to learn at first, but once you understand how to solve the puzzles, it’s addicting. you can toggle the size and difficulty of the random puzzles, or you can try their packs for a few bucks—i’ve gotten every single one. plus, it’s available offline, so it’s a perfect airplane game. one of my all time favorites!!!
