Sunset Predictions: Alpenglow

A few bug fixes for the 10th anniversary release. This update celebrates Alpenglow’s 10th anniversary with one of the biggest releases in the app’s history. A NEW ALPENGLOW FORECAST MODEL • For the first time, Alpenglow’s forecasts are powered by its own proprietary model. • This means more reliable predictions, faster improvements, and the freedom to build features that weren’t possible before. This is a huge step for the app and lays the foundation for where Alpenglow goes next. INTERACTIVE FORECAST MAPS • Explore sunrise and sunset predictions directly on the map. • Pan around your region, zoom in on areas you care about, and quickly see where conditions look best. Whether you’re planning something local or chasing light further afield, this makes it much easier. • Available with Alpenglow Pro. FORECAST MAP WIDGETS • Forecast maps now come to your Home Screen. • The new map widgets show forecasts over your location with customizable zoom levels, so you can choose the view that works best for you. • Available with Alpenglow Pro. 7-DAY EXTENDED FORECASTS • Plan further ahead with forecasts up to a full week in advance. • Perfect for scouting shoots, planning trips, or just keeping an eye on the sky. A REDESIGNED MAP EXPERIENCE • The map experience has been reworked across the app. • Smoother controls, a cleaner interface, and easier switching between forecast and sun direction modes make it more powerful and more enjoyable to use. SUN ALIGNMENT IN AR • One of my favorite additions. • Point your phone at any spot between the sun paths in AR, and Alpenglow will tell you the date and time the sun aligns with that position. A whole new way to scout compositions and plan ahead. MORE IMPROVEMENTS • Current location widgets now update automatically as you travel • Widgets can rise in Smart Stacks as sunrise or sunset approaches • Yearly variation shown in Times view • Customizable times including Astronomical and Nautical • Option to disable elevation-adjusted times • Spotlight support for saved locations • Interactive Live Activities with Lock Screen actions • Dynamic Type improvements • General performance improvements and bug fixes THANK YOU Ten years ago, Alpenglow was a much smaller idea. This update brings in features I’ve wanted from the very beginning, and it feels especially meaningful to ship them as part of the 10th anniversary.
