Predatory, find another app
The app requests access to your personal contacts for verification, which I find suspicious. There’s also a monthly fee for more connection options. The caveat is that you need to buy gems to send likes. Now I’m stuck with a 6 month membership and the requirement to purchase additional gems just to connect with people.

Regret downloading
Pretty terrible app, first off was super weird that it requires you to share every contact in your phone with them in order to get in. Once I was accepted I realized there is no way to filter age or distance. I am 22 living in California and the app is showing me 40 and 50 years olds on the other side of the country. Whoever designed this app didn’t really seem to put any thought behind it.

Data grab
I like the idea - concerned they require full access to all contacts for verification of your profile. SURF requires full access to my entire contact list before allowing me to continue. Limited access won’t do it. Their App Store privacy label says Contacts may be collected, linked to my identity, and used for analytics, personalization, app functionality, and contact info/identifiers may be used for tracking across apps and websites. I could not find a clear explanation that contacts are only processed on-device, hashed, deleted after verification, or never stored. For a dating app, requiring access to every person in my address book feels excessive and invasive.

Slow process
Takes way too long to verify profiles. Been over a month now. I'm part of the hyrox community and definitely not a bot.
Full contact access??
That is an insane thing to request and against every best security practice on earth. Until this is fixed I guess I won’t be able to check it out.
Screen size issues
I have an iPhone mini and the sign up screen doesn’t all show up on my smaller screen. So I can’t move past the “interested in” page. After doing it on my iPad, I can’t see why I am typing because of the size issue too. Definitely have to fix that. A few other things too in terms of user experience
I’m stuck in the phone verification code
Hello I first wanted to try out the dating app that I have seen advertised. I was doing just fine as I followed. I come back for the second time as I was meant to go back to the beginning of the screen but instead I went back to the same process but I put the wrong phone number. I tried to delete the app, re-downloaded it, same thing. I am getting sick and tired of it. Do better by having a go back arrow so that I don’t want to get stuck in the same screen again. This is not worth the energy. Thanks for nothing Surf Dating

Been using it for less than 2 months and connected with at least 3-5 ladys to donate mix doubles where im going to do a solo , might as well do a doubles. And get to know people
Not really worth it
The app is easy to use but there is a pay wall to really use it. A big downside is that there are not many people in my area on the app, but that could change as the app grows. Also, the filter for Washington includes both Washington State and Washington DC (which are on opposite sides of the country).

Refreshing new approach to dating online!
As someone who doesn’t typically enjoy dating apps, surf has been a very refreshing new approach to dating online. It is a lot of people with similar interests, who seem genuinely interested in dating. I’m loving the app so far!
No scrolling needed
I love the concept and practicality of seeing all the grids at once instead of scrolling through people-- helps to make the experience feel like it's being driven by the user not the app algorithm which is not something I can say for other apps! Also love the affiliations and profile tags, makes it feel like you're joining a Facebook interest page but with a way higher chance of finding partner or connection who already shares your interests!

Unique and Fun
I think it’s so cool how you can link various associations (mine was Hyrox) and find people with the same interests and hobbies! This makes the app so different and unique
Really cool idea
Dating is really tough and finding somebody who has the same interests can be even tougher. This is a really cool idea where people with a love for fitness can find someone that feels the same. I like that you can choose your sport and immediately have something in common.
Hopeful
I’m leaving 4 stars because I have yet to find success on a dating app but I love that Surf puts an emphasis on people who value physical activity as that’s something extremely important to me and in a potential partner! Fingers crossed :)
