Perfect Concept, Good execution but not perfect.
Sometimes it says “unable to connect” even though it’s on the same network, and for my Fire TV it won’t let me do quick connect, it just skips that and takes me to the password. I entered in the password and it doesn’t work
Feature Request: Manual rotation button
Could you please add a manual screen rotation button to the video player? I want to force the video into landscape mode even when the iOS System Orientation Lock is turned ON. Thank you!
No filtering
Please correct me if I’m mistaken but it seems to have no basic filtering. Go to movies and you have to scroll for days. Also can turn on the subtitles. Am I missing a setting?
tvOS feels abandoned
(Reciew Update: They’ve locked the GitHub discussion thread. And it’s three years since the last tvOS release. It’s hard to take them seriously at this point.)
It works. But the tvOS version hasn’t been updated in two and a half years. There’s a Github thread about it that’s just hit the one year mark and no end in site.
I know work is being done but it feels abandoned, The iOS/iPadOS versions have had multiple updates to keep up with the later Jellyfin and OS updates but the AppleTV sits on an old version with occasional minor issues that, although minor, aren’t going away until there’s an update.
So, if you’re a Jellyfin user who primarily watches on an AppleTV, your options are Third-Party-paid/subscription or Official-but-woefully-outdated.

Two necessary revisions
I would’ve given 5 stars if the audio wouldn’t break after receiving a FaceTime call, and if there was a full screen view / cast feature for TV

PLEASE let us disable the gesture for swipe up to close the video. I am constantly hitting it by accident whenever I want to change my volume or brightness and it is very annoying. It should not be this easy to close a video imo.

By far the best playback UI
Best playback UI but of course missing features found in other clients. Patiently waiting for this to be the only Jellyfin client I need.

Display Issues
It works, but the display often lags behind on Apple TV. The arrangement system takes too long to auto adjust to the titles, making everything overlap until you manually scroll again

Apple TV Bugs
- Logs out constantly, have to re-enter the server address and log in
- Allows me to add a server that is HTTPS with http://. This doesn’t fail. But, can’t log in. But, also can’t add a second server, because it says it’s already added, even though the schema is different. The kicker, no way to remove a server. So I’m regularly uninstalling and reinstalling.
- If multiple audio tracks, it defaults to the non-english version a lot (I’ll get the commentary track), and switching audio tracks doesn’t work.
All in all, it’s usable for most media, but barely, and frustratingly so.

Why isn’t JellyFin just on AppleTV?
This works fine, but it could be better. Not sure why I can’t access all categories on here. There’s also a weird bug where I can change the language if there’s more than one in an MKV file, but NOT if one of them has commentary. You can’t turn off the commentary track. It drives me insane.
Fixed my issues with other Jellyfin client
This client fixed all my issues! On Jellyfin, I couldn’t get subtitles to work across my media properly at all. Some episodes failed to play. Downloaded this client instead and immediately fixed my subtitle rendering issues. Also cleaner UI and better performance.
2 year old TVOS bug still not fixed!!
Every time I go to watch my content this friggin app keeps acting brand new, asking for server and login info. It is a 20 minute ordeal every single time. This is a known bug to Swiftfin since 2023. Several people have offered fixes that the developer just closes. This app should be removed from the store until it is fixed.

Sound stopped working
Honestly very pretty and generally awesome. Although for some reason my audio isn’t playing anymore? It works on other jellyfin apps but not this one at this time.

Like the app, few annoying bugs
I like the UI the best comparing to other Jellyfin clients. But I noticed a couple of issues which are quite visible and annoying. Both are when Native player option is being used:
1) Progress is not being updated with native player. Basically if I play a movie, it seems that my server is not aware that I'm playing it and not tracking the progress
2) Subtitles are not synced. If external file subtitles are used, then they are displayed with 4-5 sec delay.
Otherwise, great app!

How Jellyfin was meant to be
Although missing a few important features like downloading to device, in my opinion this is the definitive way Jellyfin should run. It’s faster, and smoother, removes the need for multiple pages for media libraries, and allows continuous scrolling to display more media like a modern app should.
Also adds the ability to quickly switch between multiple users, and adds a way to protect users with a pin (although it could use some improvements like needing to reenter the pin after closing and reopening the app)
