Inaccurate

My cat was sleeping, I did a live capture, it said she’s having a BAD day. I tried it again with my cat in the exact same position and it said she’s having a GOOD day?? How is that possible when she hasn’t moved an inch? I uninstalled

Response from developer

Thank you so much for your feedback and for giving the app a try! We appreciate the feedback on the accuracy of the capture. We are currently developing updates to the model to reduce the chances of this happening in the future. While we understand this is frustrating for you, we encourage you to check back in on future updates.

Cute concept. But needs work.

My exotic is a happy boy. As many know, exotics have very angry faces. So the grimace scale may be hard to catch with just this app alone. It’s like a random occurrence of a bad day and a good day depending on the angle I take. But very cute and well thought out concept.

Good idea but it doesn’t work

I’ve had issues with cat health recently so I downloaded this hoping it would give me peace of mind.

When my cat sleeps the app tells me he is annoyed or having a bad day. When he’s awake it says he’s fine. I took a video of him in the same positions and one time it said bad day the next, with no changes, it told me good day.

It seems very random and unreliable. Please don’t take advantage of people who want to do right by their pets. That is an awful thing to do.

It has potential!

I see this app having a lot of potential but it didn’t do much for me. It was exciting at first but the more i tried it, and on different days, it gave me the same generic results. I was hoping it was more of like a texting my cat kind of thing but it just repeated the same prompts. I can see it being a fun and interactive app if it had other options, but it’s just not something i would gravitate to. Hopefully an update will come and their will be more to it cause I can see it having a lot more to offer.

Thank you for your great feedback and for giving the Tably app a try with your cat! We have exciting plans for the future of the app including more diverse results and making it even more fun and interactive. The goal of Tably is to create a connection with cat owners and their pets to signal if the cat may be experiencing discomfort or stress and hiding it, as cats do so well. With regular use (and now with our highly requested calendar feature), cat owners can recognize patterns of good days/bad days that may be helpful to make adjustments for them and useful for veterinarians to assist with health checkups. We appreciate your encouragement, definitely more to come - keep watching this space!

Magic 8 ball for cats

So, for $3.99 a month, this app will allow me to upload photos of my cat and then tell me one of two things: he’s content, or he’s not content. It doesn’t give me any insight into how it arrived at this conclusion, making it appear totally random. If it thinks my cat is discontented, it asks me questions like: “Is he vomiting? Is he pooping?” First off, if my cat is puking, I don’t need an app to tell me he’s not happy. Could’ve figured that out on my own just by seeing food shoot out of his mouth. But for more subtle problems it isn’t really helpful either. If my cat seems ok, but this app says he’s not, I don’t think that would justify a vet trip. It just feels like a coin toss. There’s no explanation or analysis of the results. “Hi doc. My app says the cat’s not happy. Doesn’t say why. Please do thousands of dollars of tests.” Who’s going to do that??

We appreciate this feedback! And we totally understand, we have more robust plans for the app in future releases and are working hard to create an end to end experience in partnership with potential vet-service providers to make it more accessible to check in with a Veterinarian. Tably now has a calendar so you can more easily track your cats' days over time, providing you and vets with more information as to possible patterns. As we have since the start of Tably, we are building the app in consultation with Veterinarians and using cutting edge AI and continuing to improve the helpfulness of the app - thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!

I have an unhappy cat

For the past year, my cat has been “not happy” according to the app. After vet visits, playing, hanging out in favorite spots throughout the house… he’s not happy…. Scanned him at play, sitting around, in favorite spots and sleeping…. All consistent “not happy”.

So, I’m not sure if this app really works or not. I think he’s a happy cat or content cat. He doesn’t mark anything in the house. He only scratches at his cat tree and scratching posts. No aggressive behavior towards anyone at home either.

I’m not going to say”don’t use or get” but, rather use at your own risk.

It sure sounds like you are creating an environment for a happy cat and taking him to the vet on a regular basis. We appreciate that being told he is having bad days or is unhappy on a regular basis can be difficult to hear, especially when it does not seem like anything is wrong. Tably is built in consultation with Veterinarians and uses cutting edge AI and Machine Learning to detect what is incredibly hard to notice in cats; when they are experiencing stress, discomfort, or bad days. Tably should be used on a regular basis as information for you to investigate further and keep track of bad/good days, potentially noticing a pattern over time. Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to leave a review!

I’m the one who’s unhappy.

The app doesn’t fit on the screen and scrolling in not an option. I can’t get to the ‘upload photo’ button and the live capture button is only half visible. Can’t keep kitty’s attention long enough to get a reliable reading, but cats will be cats. Only reading I do get is Unhappy. My wife tried it on me and I’m happy. Go figure. Back to the drawing board, Sylvester. At least the price was right.

Not Happy

I just tried this app on my Birman cat who had begged to crawl on my lap. He was sleeping soundly but the app said 5 times that he was “ Not Happy”. Seems it’s the only answer they have. If he wasn’t happy, then I don’t know what happy and content is!

Overly Simple

It gives you very basic results. I expected more features. For example: The ability to add your cats information and track their moods over time. Or at the very least a simple history of snaps you have taken.

Great concept, faulty results

I love the idea of this app especially since I have 3 male cats and they have distinct personalities. That said they love each other and are purring love bugs with me. This app though always reads that the cats are unhappy even when they aren’t. So maybe they need to rework this…cute idea but execution stinks

Cute idea, not accurate

My car was purring and content, and it read unhappy. Was off 5/6 tries.

Clearly work to do

I tried this app on my cat and no matter his expression or position it says he’s discontent when he clearly is not. I thought this would be helpful but it’s saying he’s in distress even when he’s fully stretched out and asleep in soft beds with the best look on his face. I don’t think I can rely on this app.

Good for a laugh

Apparently, my cat has Permanent Stank Face. Always get the red meaning she is discontent or ill.
I was able to get it to work quite regularly. I stand in front of my cat, not right up in her face taking the scan at an angle. Light behind me. You just need to play with it a bit and you find the position that works best and it reads pretty quickly.
Good for fun, but I wouldn’t worry about your cat if you keep getting red.

What a joke!

I tried it on my cats as they purred and snuggled with me. Not happy. Tried it when they were zonked and blissed out. Not happy.

And then I thought that maybe it is right! Maybe using an app to check your cat out annoys them?

The best proof of how awful it is is the good reviews that say, oh, this is new technology, give it a chance! Hahaha, sock puppets.

Used to be bad, update fixed everything

the update fixed the live capture a lot! it used to not detect my cats face for 5 minutes but now it’s faster! thank you developers for actually listening to us

Great idea to build on…

This app is a great idea, and is fun.
It still needs some work when it comes to detecting cats in darker settings and cats with medium to dark colored fur. Since it takes awhile to analyze the cat’s face, my cats both get annoyed with having the phone in their face for a long period of time. Both my cats are medium gray and it’s a big issue for them.

When I do a reading in bright light it works great and doesn’t take nearly as long, or intrude on my cats activities.

Making the app more light sensitive is an important improvement for the long term survival of the app.

Interesting idea

Doesn’t capture cat’s face, no matter which angle you shoot from. Interesting idea, but app does not work and therefore not worth having it occupy space on my phone.

Won’t pick up black cats!

I understand (for the most part) why it won’t work, but surely there’s a way around it somehow. I would have rated higher had it worked on my black kitty.

It clearly does not work

Good concept, but it doesn’t work. I made sure I have the most current iso. It continually freezes at 15%. Nice try. Keep working at it.

Fun app to try but no real value.

I thought I’d try this. What a hoot!! I’ve had my cats since they were kittens so pretty easy to read their moods. Neither of them appreciate a phone shoved in their face so yes, they look peeved. Deleting the app now since its really not telling me anything I don’t already know.
