User reviews

Great study tool, but I wish there were more things it could do.

Great idea, and the app is fully accessible with voiceover, although voiceover is not needed as the app is also self voicing. Asking how many times a word or Froese occurs in. The Bible appears only to work if you change your voice view to input view, and then type it or dictate it into the search field. if you have it set to voice view, it just says invalid command and then repeat the question you had asked. Useful features would include being able to search by names, or search by titles of stories, for example, read the story of David and Goliath, or read the story of Noah’s Ark. it would also be helpful if one could search by name as well as words or phrases. I hope the developers read this review and will consider my suggestions, as I think it could become a great tool and a great resource for Bible study. Thank you. Before I forget, just a quick note, it might be a good idea to know that if you have VoiceOver turned on while you use this app it will not allow you to tap on the screen so that it will switch to listening mode and listen to your command. in order for you to be able to tap on the screen, voiceover needs to be switched off. Update: having had more time to interact with this app, I have found that I was after all able to search for names at least to some degree. I did notice, though, that if you want to read the Health file, you have to hear the entire help file at once. There is no way to only hear the part of the help that you have a question about. it would be nice if you could either say search for command help or search for Froese help or something like that, or at least if you could turn voiceover on and then have the different help sections be listed by headings so that you can stop the reading of the help file and then read it with voiceover and scroll down the headings so that you can read the part that you want without having to read the entire file at once. I think this Bible app would also be awesome as an Alexa skill. Since Alexa is already voice activated, and the goal of the app is also to be able to do everything with your voice, I think that would be awesome for future updates. Thank you developers for reaching out to me and responding to my review.

Response from developer

Dear Helenafer123; 1st let me thank you for your detailed and well written review and let me thank you for purchasing our App. We will look into the issue you are experiencing in Input View, as you should be able to tap on the screen and speak a voice command. We are experimenting how to implement voice commands to search for topics such as “ David and Goliath”, “Noah’s Ark”, “Birth of Jesus “, etc. but have not settled on how to make it simple for the Visually Impaired as well as fully functional when in Input View. I think we are close to a solution. Maybe we can implement it 1st when using Input View. Again we will study your suggestions closely to see where additional improvements can be made and how to add more “ Bible Study” features. Thanks again and may the Blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ chase you down and overtake you and your family. Bernard

Have found several flaws in the searching for scripture

I was really hoping that this app would help me search the Bible quicker and easier but everything I try searching it says is not a scripture that’s valid and it won’t search for me so I have to read the whole chapter. That’s not good. I want a refund and I’m getting a hold of Apple for it

Response from developer

I am very sorry that the app is not working for you as desired. If you could give me an example of how you are saying the scripture I’ll be more than willing to look into it and see what adjustments can be made and update the app. I know there are many “common” ways we refer to scripture such as “the 23rd number of Psalms” instead of “Psalms 23 verse 4”. The app tries to detect them. So if you would speak the scripture verse in response to this review or send it to me as an email (simmonssoftwareconsulting@gmail.com) I will look into it and respond back. Thanks for your interest in our app.
