Too Many Fake Accounts!
I’m giving this app a 1-star rating. I joined Tandem with the intention of learning languages, hoping to connect with real native speakers and build my international network. I was initially very excited, but since yesterday, I’ve been overwhelmed by a wave of fake accounts causing constant nuisance. This is not a dating app! In just 24 hours, I came across at least 50 fake profiles. Instead of focusing on learning and meaningful practice, I feel like a detective constantly trying to figure out who is real and who isn't. The developers need to address this immediately—for instance, by strictly preventing users from faking their locations using VPNs or location spoofing. The environment here is disappointing, and I will be deleting the app.

Best app to improve your language skills!!
Hands down this is the best app on the internet! Not only have my language skills improved, but I also made really good friends and connections throughout the language learning process. It was so nice to be able to connect with native speakers. I made more progress on here than I ever did with Duolingo. Thank you Tandem!

Banned me for no reason
I loved using Tandem. I taught English there for free everyday. One day, I opened the app and saw that I was banned. That is the Tandem experience.
CONSTANTLY GLITCHING
Constantly glitching!!! This app glitches often, but I still enjoy it. Would be nice if they could add a chat box for listeners as well.

It was getting pretty buggy and hard to use but the latest update has been a huge improvement, performance wise. Still a lot of ads, but the real quality content is the very helpful people who are on here

プロフィールにその人の「レビュー」を書くことができる機能のお陰か、デザインのお陰か、クリーンで民度が高い印象があります。
もちろん出会い目的などの人も一定数いるし、返事が来なかったり、こっちが逆にメッセージが多すぎて返せなかったりと、うまくいかないことは日常茶飯事ですが、人間同士のコミュニケーションなので仕方ないと思います。根気強くいろんな人に話しかけたりやりとりをしていくうちに、きっと気が合う人と出会えるはずです！
アプリの機能上の問題は、たまに、メッセージ履歴が突然消えてしまうことがあることです…
また、相手のメッセージに「返信」する機能を使うと、なぜかメッセージが送信されない率が高く、そこが地味にストレスです。
また、話す人が増えたからか、アプリの動きがカクカクしたり重くなったなと感じます。。
という問題はありますが、このアプリのおかげで旅行先で実際に会ったり、長く付き合える友達と何人か出会えました。お陰で学習中の言語も上達しているし、何より出会える人の幅が増えて、少し人生が豊かになりました。😊本当にいいコミュニティを作ってくださってありがとうございます！

Good app, but unreliable messaging
So far I’ve been enjoying using this app, except for one thing: the message sending/receiving is not very reliable.
I had coordinated to do a video call with someone at a specific time. When the time came, I messaged them to ask if they were still available. Over the next 5 min, I sent another couple messages, but they weren’t responding, even though the app said they had seen my first message.
I waited another 30 minutes before sending a final message saying the I had to go to work and that we could call another day.
Only then did they respond to me, saying “okay, no worries”. I asked what happened, and they said they didn’t get my earlier messages, so they had just been sitting around waiting for me to call.
This was very frustrating and wasted both of our time. This is the only time so far in the few weeks I’ve been using this app that I’ve seen failed message delivery (at least that I’m aware of), but it is still unacceptable, especially when the app is explicitly telling me the messages were delivered when they weren’t.
