Tap 7 is the simplest way to accurately gauge tempo mid-performance. Simply tap the screen to start tracking, and then tap again on the 7th beat. The app will automatically calculate the BPM. Modeled after the long out-of-production tempo watch loved by conductors and musicians worldwide! Why 7? Tap on Beat 1 and 7: that's the 4th downbeat in 2/4, the 3rd downbeat in 3/4, and beat 3 of the second measure in 4/4. No need to switch time signatures in the app, making this suitable for mixed meter. No need to tap repeatedly on every beat and wait for your metronome to average out and calculate the tempo. Tap on 1 and 7--you're done.
