Great until September 2026
I have had Tapas downloaded for a few years, and one of the most unique features of the app was Gift ink every Monday. Things were going great until September 2026 when Tapas took that feature away.

Tapas, for some reason, no longer has events to earn ink. It might have been due to the fact that many users actually participated.

So Much Fun Good Reading
I love this app and how it has so many stories to choose from in both web-novel format and manhwa (did I spell that correctly?) format. Also, the comment section is delightful with how silly yet insightful the other readers are into the various plot lines and character developments. I appreciate having the options of watching ads to read a few extra chapters, as well as being able to play games to earn “ink” to be able to buy chapters to read. I’ve probably spent several hundred dollars over the years using Tapas😅, but it feels worth every penny😁.

HOW DARE YOU!!!!! I rely heavily on WUF and Fortune Cookie ink to read my #1 all time favorite comic and you TOOK THAT FROM ME!!!!! AND YOU HAVE NOT SAID A WORD TO THE READERS!!!!! WHATS YOUR EXCUSE!!!! ITS BEEN WEEKS!!!!! I wouldn’t be so angry if you just give a speech or something to indicate why this is happening YOUR NOT SONY HOW DARE YOU GHOST US FANS!!!!! What Happened?
Love this app! BUT I’ve noticed within the month they haven’t been the same. No events and no gifts. Usually on mondays they give you a surprise tokens as gifts but they haven’t these past few weeks. I’m hoping better changes are being made and if so I’ll change back my rating of this app from a 1 star back to a 5.

Events
They used to have reading events and a Monday fortune cookie that you could get ink from, but those events haven’t shown up for three weeks despite them happening pretty regularly before. They do have games you can earn ink from but many don’t have the time for that and the games require a lot of grinding. Once you earn ink from a game and you don’t complete the missions for it during the time given to you then you can no longer get rewards from that game. The several games I played had some money spending quests as well so I assume others are like that. If you were to rely entirely on purchased ink to unlock series, you can be spending more than $20 for 30 episodes if you use one tap and the other discounted option of mass buying episodes that typically cost 450 ink. For most series the episodes cost 450 ink. I had to drop a lot of series because I couldn’t pay for them. I still hold onto a few because I am hopeful that the ink missions and Monday fortune cookie will come back.

Good app bad direction
The app works well and has a lot of great titles on it, but in the last 2 weeks they have removed the events to earn ink and the free weekly fortune cookie of ink - even though both are still in their advertisements. It seems to be heading toward a strict pay to read rather then allowing for some ways to get ink for free (it was never a lot to begin with - maybe enough to read 1 chapter but that still helps).

Loved the app, but now it’s changed
Love this app and all the stories it recommended to me. The algorithm learned what I liked very quickly. But recently it’s changed without notice and not sure if it’s a bug issue or a company issue. I get notifications on my phone about new chapter updates for my stories, passes available for other stories, or to get a free ink on Mondays. But when I go to check my messages or gifts in the app, there’s nothing. There’s not even an option to read for an event anymore. I’ve looked online and found that I’m not the only one experiencing it and it’s frustrating that they haven’t addressed the issue even though everyone is bringing it up in their social medias and reviews. Till this is fixed I only plan to finish reading what I’m already in the middle of and then be done with the app. So disappointing.

Problem with ad pass episodes
This is a consistent and really annoying issue. You’re meant to watch an ad to unlock an episode, so you do so. But then, you cannot click the x and get back to Tapas for the episode. It stays completely stuck and the x does not work at all. You press the ‘get’ button, and that works just fine. You close the app, come back, and it did not log that you watched the ad at all and you just have to do it over again. Then it proceeds to not give you the episode again. Not to mention, the ads are three in one so they just waste so much time without giving you anything in return and making the app unusable unless you close it entirely again.

Where have ink reward events gone?
Five free ink reward events ended early together because there’s suddenly a limit to ‘winners’, and no new events at all since; no trivia Thursday this week; no gift tickets on Saturday; and no fortune cookie on Monday. I’m lucky I save up ink in case there are ever reward events I’m not able to fulfill so I can still read early access episodes that update those days, but I hate actually having to use it, especially as much as I have in these past few days without reward events. Normally I get by entirely on reward ink — even if sometimes that means saving an update I normally spent ink on for the next day after completing another ink reward event — but now I have so many WUF and early access series’ updates that I can’t read now. I originally thought this might only go on for a couple days, but it’s been a week of disappointment now. Unless there’s some sort of other background issues that have suddenly developed around these events and the other features offering free ink or tickets, I don’t see any reason to suddenly (for lack of a better term) punish users for engaging and completing your events “too enthusiastically”.

Fortune cookie gone??
There’s only a few comics I enjoy on the app. But those few I enjoy very much. I like to use the fortune cookie for early access. I hope this app won’t turn into another money grab comic app. Would give a 2.5/5 if I could.
No events anymore?
All the ink collecting events are gone and doesn’t seem like they’re coming back. What happened? This app has been getting worse slowly, and I want the old tapas back.

I used to really enjoy using the app, so I'm disappointed it's come to this.
Tapas used to have weekly engagement events, but have some deleted them all with no notice or announcement as of September. Unless the story you want to read is exclusive to Tapas, you're better off using Tappytoons or Lezhin.
Here's hoping they reverse course.

My Fortune Cookie and weekly gifts aren’t showing up
I don’t know what happened, but within the past few weeks or so my Fortune Cookie and free chapter passes aren’t showing. The screen just shows ’Bummer, no gifts’ Did something happen? Did they change it? Please help
Trouble with redeeming Weekly Monday ink
Idk if it’s a bug or a change to the app but I’m not able to redeem or see any of the weekly gifts like the free tickets or the weekly Monday fortune cookie, other than that I still enjoy using the app, I do tend to spend a bit on ink but i always look forward to mondays fortune cookie…
Dedicated To Discouraging Use
With the loss of ads for ink, only being able to open episodes for forty-eight hours, and now the apparent loss of the fortune cookie, I feel Tapas is determined to chase away every single user they have. There are comics I love that are only on this app, but what's the point if I can't even read them.
They seem dedicated to ignoring user feedback, as well, including eliminating ads for ink despite the fact literally nobody wanted that, making it impossible to actually use the dang app, making WUF impermanent, etc, etc.

Used to love
This app used to give video rewards, used to give Monday fortune cookie, used to be worth spending a few bucks on but anymore they just try to bleed you dry no Monday fortune cookie, no video rewards (as in read a comic after watching one ad), and one comic is 450 with one tap it’s 405 one tap used to be like 350 a whole 100 ink off !!!
