This app is a scam

“Free subscription trail”. No it actually just took it straight from my account, even after finding out the bs app is pointless and doesn’t work in Canada and cancelling my subscription

Doesn’t work in Canada

Doesn’t support postal codes

No Canada

No Canadian postal codes

Great Concept, But…

It’s a great concept. But you have to pay for a subscription or a free trial before you can even see your dinner ideas and grocery list. Groceries are already expensive enough. No thanks. And when you go to select foods you won’t eat (tofu, coconut, etc), you can’t continue unless you select “I eat everything”. It won’t let you continue if you select anything else. So I don’t want to pay for something that won’t let me deselect what I’m not willing to eat. Otherwise it’s a great concept.

Perfect for bland meals

It did its job. Created a budget menu. Unfortunately they need to invest in expanding their recipe offerings. 2 weeks of the most bland, unappealing, chicken nugget kid type dinners that literally made me cancel. Nothing unique. Just breaded pork cutlets, pork cutlet either gravy, crusted pork cutlet like what the heck? No offerings of any Mexican, Italian, Indian dinners. I wanted the ease of not having to break my brain in half to provide delicious meals but I guess you have to sacrifice flavor as well. Maybe they could invest in better recipes to attract a wide clientele. Actually do some market research and talk to real moms of different cultures to see the budget friendly meals we make at home that also incorporate a ton of flavor. Offer that in your onboarding. Allow clients to select cuisine preferences like Mediterranean, Mexican, Italian, etc. and ACTUALLY provide those recipes. Maybe I’ll come back in a year when they’ve garnered more attention and offerings.

Recipes are not kid friendly

I was hoping for an app to help me on those busy nights and I checked no dietary restrictions as well as foods we won’t eat but most importantly… kid friendly. The menu was the opposite. Who ever made this app never had a picky 6 and 10 yr old but name me a child who will eat zucchini and tomato quesadillas? Or white bean and Kale soup? Needless to say I canceled the app, it will be more of a headache making the kids eat these dishes then planning and budgeting myself.

Canada support?

The concept of the app is something that i personally really like and see potential in however as of right now its only able to support the USA so if you’re like me and aren’t USA based you won’t be able to use the app but im definitely looking forward to being able to use it in Canada hopefully someday soon.

In Canada, we use postal codes!

Runs ads on social in Canada but wants an American zip code to start using the app. Downloaded and deleted 45 seconds. Seems like a great concept for an app, but who can tell? NOT Canadians!

Wish I could use it!

I’m giving the app 5 starts because I love the idea, however I can’t honestly give a review because I can’t use the app. Apparently they can’t price Walmart in my area. Hopefully eventually they will be able to and I can come back and try again!

Do not get if in Canada

Not good if in Canada it makes you put a zip code in and your unable to convert a zip to a postal code which is what we have here and honestly with how the states are these days I’m not surprised this app only has one other review and it’s 3 stars. My guy your country is cooked mine isn’t any better but at least mine doesn’t have a creep running it

Not worth it

I’m so tired of these subscription apps, just run ads if you need to make money, the whole thing is locked behind a paywall so you can’t even see a single meal not to mention the lack of support for Canada with American only postal codes despite running ads for this app on other sites in Canada.

Don’t waste your time trying to make a meal plan if you don’t wanna spend 12+ dollars a month

Response from developer

Hi - just a quick clarification on pricing: TapCook is $29.99 per year, which works out to about $2.50/month, not $12+ per month. We also hear you on Canada support. The app is still very new, and store/postal code support outside the U.S. is something we’re actively working on. As for the paywall, TapCook is a subscription app rather than an ad supported app because we’d rather charge a small amount for the product than fill the experience with ads. Thanks for the feedback - especially on Canada support. That part is fair, and we’re working on it.

Make Accessible for Canadians please

I can’t rate this a good rating because I can’t access it in Canada. It looks like a very handy app. Please make it accessible for Canadians

It failed me

My husband downloaded the app, filled out the whole thing, shopped for ingredients (inaccurate pricing) and made 2 meals. Then I tried to join the household with him. We tried 3 times, but it ended up deleting the work he’d already done. So now I have all these ingredients and no recipes. I can’t even look up the recipe. So it was a flop for us.

So helpful

Tapcook makes it so easy to plan out my grocery list and meals for the week, and all the meals I've made have been delicious. This app is amazing!

Love it!!

It’s so helpful and it shows pictures of the different meals!

Almost perfect

The only complaint I have at this point is that the recipes don’t have any preparation steps for the ingredients. For example it just says, “fry bok choy stems then leaves.” How should the bok choy be cut? Sliced in half, chopped? I had to reference the picture to find out. Also, it asks for salt, but never reminds you to add it during the cooking steps. Now, I know how to cook, but I imagine some newbie forgetting and getting bland steak. I think the devs could easily add the preparation steps, or at least descriptions of the desired form in the line for each ingredient. I assume these are mostly AI recipes anyway, so it shouldn’t be that hard.

Very helpful!

Love that it helps w meal ideas and saves me money! Very helpful! Highly recommend!

I see potential

While I see the potential of the app, it is made available to download in Canada but only allows you to enter a ZIP code when I have a Postal code (including letters). Therefore it does not accurately show local stores and prices for Canadians. Once it is truly accessible I would like to try it again.

VERY Disappointed

Do not waste your money on this app. This app, I believe, is not fully developed before promoting it to the public. First, it says you get a free seven day trial… well that was false. I ended up having to pay right upfront when I thought I was getting a free trial. Next, after paying that’s when you can see what meals you can get for the week, well because I chose Paleo as the diet, I was only given three meals in total. It said because of my diet, I am not able to access 18 other meals. Which is not even enough meals to get somebody through two weeks or three weeks and the three meals that I can only eat would only cover one days worth. This app is not good, and it took my money after false promotion. Don’t even waste your time. I want a refund. This is poor development.

Game Changer

Found this app on tik tok and I’ve used it for only a couple days and it’s a game changer - we’re trying to be better with how much we spend on groceries and with a $100 a week and it gave us a multitude of meals for the week and the first one I made was DELICIOUS. Not to mention the recipes are so easy to follow. Is definitely worth the yearly subscription price!!
