Literally is a scam app
Got this text from them that DEMANDED a picture from where I was being picked up and it said that I gave my exact address over text and then when Cab got here tell him there where I’m going
It just sounded weird and I didn’t answered cause I got like kinda skeptical ab it and then a friend told me he had “another app” and noticed this was the fake version thank god I didn’t actually used it but it was a big scared please be safe around there

It’s ok
The only problem for me is that sometimes there are no taxi drivers available through the app. Especially in the peak season, busy weekend evenings, etc; when all the drivers are preying on and overcharging tourists. But when the app works, it works fine. I usually only wait 5 to 10 minutes.
Regarding those who say that they are overcharged on the app, well, that’s ridiculous. The app even tells you (if you choose the option) how much a taxi would cost if you flag one down on the street vs. using the app. When you you the app, you are paying the “radio taxi” rate. This is the same rate you would pay for calling a taxi. This is obviously a little more than grabbing one on the street. I’m any case, you simply need to choose the zones and check the radio taxi rate on the app to know exactly what you will be charged. Simple.
But, what Playa really needs on this industry is competition. UBER and Lyft is what is needed. But the taxi union (sindicato) here has political power and influence and block have blocked UBER in this part of Mexico. Despite the wishes of the VAST majority of the population. I’m tired of the B.S. lies from the union. There is no reason to feel sorry for taxi drivers here. At least half of them are dishonest and try to grossly overcharge those who they think aren’t from here. Competition is a good thing. Why on earth should taxi drivers be in some sort of special category? Everyone else here in the private sector (myself included) must work in competitive industries. End of rant.

Seems like a scam app
I used the app and the they quoted me a price that was over three times the market rate. Essentially a app to get over on tourists or people who do not know any better.
