I want to love this, but it’s unusable.
I made a bit on an impulse decision in buying this calculator - it seemed to be an excellent upgrade from the aging desmos scientific app & the just horrible apple calculator. The features of this app are great, but the interface is scaled terribly. It reacts extremely poorly to being resized, and is completely unusable when not in full screen. 95% of my workflow with a calculator is either in slide over or split screen / windowed mode with another app, and when I try this with TechniCalc, the working space gets squished to the top while the keypad becomes enormous. I also thought the custom keypad layout would solve this, but it just replaces blank spaces with a weird series of dots in the tile. The side bar is massive, the keypad is massive, but the actual calculations themselves are squished against the top of the window. If you’re using matrices, they literally overlap on themselves. If this gets fixed down the line I could love this app and give it another try, but this is so terrible I can’t imagine it has been tested properly on iPad.

Simply amazing, but could use multi lines of history on the top
Quite a good and versatile calculator. The title describes my biggest gripe. One QOL improvement could be a bit of color coding for grouped buttons.

Form and Function
This app hits the mark in both UI design and feature set. It's highly extensive and allows for customisation whilst also providing all the features you could want out of the box. It is easy to navigate and intuitive to use. As a bonus the app works very well on all devices, be it Mac, iPhone or iPad. For anyone looking to replace their physical calculator this is the one to look at.

Excellent for both technical and basic use
This has become the standard desktop calculator on my Mac. It more than lives up to its name for complicated or technical computations, while remaining quick and easy for basic calculations, so there's never any reason to use anything else! Input is simple, both input and output are formatted beautifully, and the result updates as you type. It's fast, solid, powerful, and pretty much always running somewhere among my open windows.

Feature rich calculator
This is a nice alternative to the stock calculator. Its’ Apple silicon code runs on iPads, Macs and iPhones (just noting that the developer allows this and doesn’t try and sell 2 versions). A little more interface customizing and it will be great!

Great calculator
This was a great find. a proper scientific calculator that is easy and intuitive to use and feature packed but not in a confusing way. Super easy to get set up and customise to what you are doing.

It’s nice … when I can find it
The app is nice enough but it’s not findable on MacOS. So it’s running on my computer but I can’t see it. I also can’t force quit it, so essentially the only thing to do is to restart the computer, which isn’t happening. I’m sure it’s a simple bug and look forward to the developer fixing it because it makes the app unusable most of the time.

Brilliant app, and responsive Developer
I’ve used this app for a year, and when I found a operation listed as undefined that shouldn’t have been, Jacob had fixed it within TWO DAYS!! I couldn’t have asked for more. I highly recommend the app, it’s the best calculator I’ve found, especially for keeping open while taking notes, or doing homework on your iPad.

Could we please get the option to colour the background of the calculator buttons? Coulor coding makes it easier to find and hit the desired buttons correctly.

Cleanest and most capable
This app is definitely the cleanest looking advanced calculator app I’ve been able to find on the app store, after looking over a huge number of them. It’s also very powerful, featuring plotting, solving and conversion, all in a clean and uncluttered way. This is a calculator app with a lot of attention to detail. The dev is responsive to feature requests too!

after a month bug with abs function was fixed and author promised automatic testing for most calculator functions, so I hope calculator will calculate without errors looking forward

Recent Update Slows Calculations
I believe ever since the currency update, this calculator is losing its value to me. I’ll type in a simple 16,000/12 and the display shows that it’s “thinking…” and then loads for longer after that. Division is not complex, so I don’t understand what the issue is.
I’m hoping this can be worked out because I use this calculator app for everything even through my undergraduate studies. If this continues, it will severely hinder my calculations and I’ll need to find another app.

No real instruction manual
This could be a good app but you are left guessing how to use some of it’s capabilities. The reference section incomplete. You actually need to develop a user’s manual and then I could potentially give you five stars.

in case you do indeed need a calculator on a regular basis, don't look any further!
Why choose this calculator over any other in AppStore:
(1) It is most versatile, while not trying to emulate a classical hardware calculator (like «15C Scientific Calculator», probably the best application of this kind in AppStore), nor offering useless frills for those in permanent need of entertainment. In short, it is for those who do indeed need …well, a calculator, without the illusion of holding one in ones' hands.
(2) The developer does not harvest nor sells any of your data. In the meantime this respectful attitude towards one's users has become quite rare. I am very thankful for this.
(3) The developer offers his application for free, and leaves it to each user's sense of decency to put some money into the «tip jar», or not.

(a) I continue to like this well designed app, but Jacob Parker (the developer) does now collect «Diagnostics». How much this is linkable to an identity is everybody's guess.
(b) there is no way to leave a second tip for Jacob. This is, of course, a AppStore decision, to discourage developers strenghten their relations with their users. I have no reason to assume that Apple allows oversights, neglects glitches.
(c) the size of the TechniCalc window cannot be changed! This is really strange, but I have seen this also before, mainly in applications developed in Germany. It is beyond me, why some developers, like Jacob, go out of their way to disable resizing windows, which is something so basic to expect.
