What's New in TenantKit
2.0
August 9, 2026
Version 2.0 is the biggest update since launch — a redesigned app, four new features, and a long list of fixes. A calmer, clearer app TenantKit has been redesigned from the ground up. Cleaner type, a quieter colour palette, and less competing for your attention on every screen — so what matters is easier to find. Getting around is simpler too: your evidence, your rules and your settings each have their own place. A new launch screen, an app icon that adapts to dark mode, and small animations that show you what just happened. Know your state's rules A new Rules tab shows what your state's law actually says about your deposit — the return deadline, whether your landlord must itemize deductions, and whether interest applies — each citing the statute it came from. 21 states to start, with more added over time. If yours isn't covered yet, the app says so plainly instead of guessing. Rent tracking, with reminders Set your rent amount and due day to get reminded before rent is due, and keep a record of the months you've paid. Add a photo of a receipt and it's sealed like any other evidence. You're reminded five days before, the day before, and once the morning after if nothing's been marked — then it leaves you alone. Your rent details never leave your phone. A new Evidence Record Build a PDF from everything you have, or just the part you need — one maintenance request, a single walkthrough, your rent history, any combination. Every record states what it covers and what it leaves out, so a partial one can never be mistaken for the whole file. Maintenance photos now appear in it too. See exactly what's backed up A new Backup screen lists every video and photo with its own status, so you can see what's safely copied off your phone rather than guessing from a total. Fixes worth knowing about Location is now recorded with your walkthrough videos as intended — a bug meant the app never actually asked permission, so it was silently missing. Buying an unlock no longer interrupts you mid-walkthrough. And if a report fails to reach your landlord, the timeline now says so clearly instead of showing it as delivered.
MoreFAQ
What is TenantKit?
TenantKit is a renter's toolkit designed to help you protect your deposit and rights. It allows you to create sealed evidence, track deliveries to your landlord, and manage maintenance requests with provable notice.
How does TenantKit protect my evidence?
TenantKit uses cryptographic sealing for all video walkthroughs and maintenance requests. This means the evidence is timestamped by an independent authority the moment it's finished, making it impossible to edit or backdate later.
Can I access my evidence if I lose my phone?
Yes, TenantKit offers private vault backup. Once you sign in, your sealed evidence automatically backs up to your private vault, ensuring it's safe even if your phone is lost, damaged, or stolen.
How does TenantKit handle delivery to my landlord?
You can send your sealed report directly from the app. TenantKit provides a delivery receipt, showing exactly when your report is delivered, opened, and viewed by your landlord.
Does TenantKit provide legal advice?
No, TenantKit explicitly states that it does not provide legal advice. It is a tool to help you gather and manage evidence related to your rental property.
What devices does TenantKit support?
TenantKit is available on iPhone and iPad, as indicated by its supported devices list.
How often is TenantKit updated?
The latest version, 1.2, was released on July 26, 2026, with the last update on the same date. More renter-protection tools are planned for future releases.
Does TenantKit have ads?
No, TenantKit is ad-free. The app's description does not mention any advertisements, and the 'hasAds' flag is set to false.
