Works flawlessly! even iCloud sync!
I love DIY projects, and I’ve been known to code my own solutions to many automation problems in the past. But sometimes, the activation energy required to get even a “minimal viable product” working is too much. That’s why I’m so grateful that Brett Terpstra created TerminalWidget.
Case-in-point: I had a few command-line programs that I had already created in Python for my own purposes. I’ve been using them for years, and they work great. But what I *really* needed was a native macOS and iOS app that would present that information to me in a concise way. With TerminalWidget, I was able to get what I wanted in less than 2 minutes! Every day, my programs run on my Mac, and then iCloud syncs the result (flawlessly, and within seconds) to my iPhone and iPad. It’s absolutely amazing.
The developer has added a gallery of possible uses on the app’s web site. I encourage you to take a look. Don’t be daunted by what you see — using TerminalWidget can be as simple or as complex as you like. It’s a new tool in the toolbox, but a great tool to have, and there’s nothing else like it right now. Totally worth the purchase.

Ultra-Powerful Widget Builder
Absolutely thrilled with TerminalWidget. It’s like a modern, more powerful version of GeekTool for widgets not just on my Mac but also on iPhone and iPad. You’re going to have to be comfortable doing some scripting to make this sing, but wow is it powerful. There are some great recipes on the app web site you can use as jumping off points. Especially excited that the developer continues to update TerminalWidgets regularly with new capabilities. All in all, very excited about all that’s possible with this awesome tool.

No Lock Screen widget
I bought this specifically to make a Lock Screen widget on my phone. Apparently it doesn’t support that; I guess it’s a different widget type? Very disappointed.
(Also I wouldn’t hate the ability to go as a complication into a smart face on the Apple Watch either, but at least I expected that wouldn’t work because the store page doesn’t mention Watch anywhere. But Lock Screen first.)

Response from developer
There is actually a watch complication, but it's limited. I'll gladly look into lock screen widgets, though. Maybe a 2-star review isn't necessary for a feature request?
Perfect for At-A-Glance Visibility
Pair this with a coding agent, and you can easily add widgets for any service with an API or any script with output you want to keep an eye on. My favorite thing about this is that once I have a widget on my Mac, I can update it on whatever schedule makes sense using a plist in ~/Library/LaunchAgents, and then whatever I’m monitoring becomes visible on my phone, because the widget data syncs over iCloud. Brilliant!

Great app, wonderful developer!
I’d been looking for a replacement for GeekTool forever, and this is so much more than that. So incredibly versatile. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made for my Mac.
TerminalWidget can save you money because instead of buying single-purpose widget apps, you can roll your own. I’m not even super geeky and I am making a bunch of widgets and having a blast.
Last and definitely not least, Brett Terpstra is so responsive, thoughtful, and kind. Thank you for your help, Brett!
