Not working properly

The links to log in or check the subscription disappear

Login disappears

Login on iPhone disappears seconds after opening the app so I get constant pop ups and ads.

When will app be fixed

So frustrating- great magazine, can’t understand the log in issues obviously are struggle for many!

No worth the money

Too many adds, web based content and no offline reading

App Won’t Fly

The app is mostly just a mirror of the website. You can “flip through” a digital copy of the magazine (60% ads), but you can’t download past editions for offline reading. You can go through your browser and download a single, low-res version of one issue, but you lose it if you close the window. The whole point of a magazine is portability, but this app is really built for reading articles at home on WiFi. (Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some clouds to yell at outside.)

Super Weak and Maddening Magazine App

This is the worst iPad app of any of the many other daily and monthly periodicals that I subscribe to and read on my iPad. (My comments here are limited to the TM app, which is horrible, and not TM magazine itself, which is phenomenal.) TM's iPad app requires me to login constantly -- including during the same reading of an article -- in a way that no other app requires me to login. It's not possible to download and read offline. I’m often required to "press and hold" a button to revalidate who I am, just after re-logging in for the umpteenth time. It has no memory -- so every time I pick up the magazine, I have to remember and then find where I left off in an article via a page-by-page turn of the magazine. There's no product feature that allows me jump into the middle of the magazine to the start of a new article -- which means I must turn every page to get to the start of a new article in the middle of the magazine. TM's iPad app is a mindboggling step backward from what its iPad app used to be and massive step away from what other high-end periodicals provide. (Again, we love TM magazine; it's just that we hate TM's iPad edition.)

Can’t login/not renewing subscription

My mother is elderly and has trouble with her vision reading on a tablet allows her to increase the size of text easily. She loves Texas monthly however we can login in. We will not be renewing subscription because of this such a shame.

Fix Log in Issues pleaseeee

Would love to use the app but there isn’t a clear log in destination. It just keeps opening up the website though the app

Fix the app

Can’t log in. Can’t download for airplane mode. This app is unbearable.

Great reading experience, just having trouble logging in

The app is well designed and has a pleasant layout for reading on the phone. The one thing that is frustrating is that the Log In button in the top right corner always disappears before I can use it, so I am not able to access my account from the app.

Login window needs fixing

At first, I couldn’t find the login prompt. Once I logged in, the login screen reappeared over the main window every time I returned to the main screen from an article. I had to manually close it each time before I could proceed. The Texas Monthly content is five stars, but this annoying bug in the app dropped my app rating considerably. Subscribe, by all means, just use the website instead for online reading.

Unintuitive

This is the MOST unintuitive magazine app in the store. I want to log in and read the latest issues for my flight. I cannot figure out how to do that in the app. I have a doctorate and a masters degree, and I am stumped.

No download

Still no download option when wifi or internet not available. This was once available… updated app provides no download option that works for airplane mode…?? Guess I’ll just keep on killing trees with TM in print when I travel.

Download issues for offline???

Why can’t TM provide a way to download the issues for offline access? As in for airplane trips when wifi isn’t working? This was once an option. Frustrating.

Cannot login

App is truly impossible to login to, it will not allow you to do so, this rendering it useless. Searching for a third party app to access my subscription

Website front-end

The new app appears to just be a pass-through to the website. I have been a digital-only subscriber for years via the App Store, but with the new app there is seemingly no way to access my paid-for and still active subscription including paid for back issues. This new app is terrible, and should not exist in the first place if the sole purpose is to just re-display the Texas Monthly website…banner advertisements and all.

Response from developer

Hi Broxbeeble— I'm sorry to hear that you're not liking the new app. To get to the digital replica magazines, tap the Magazine tab along the bottom of the screen. Then scroll down to see the 'Flip through the digital magazine' link under the header image. You can tap that to access the version of the magazine that paginates like the physical magazine, as well as all of the back issues. You can also access the digital replica magazine by navigating to your profile (once logged in, tap the profile icon in top right corner > My Profile). This link will only be available if you are logged in. To log in, tap the 'Log in' link in the top right corner. Please let me know if you run into any issues authorizing your account by replying here or emailing dbudde@texasmonthly.com. I hear you on not liking that this new version is similar to the browser experience. Is this primarily because of the dynamic ads that you mentioned, whereas the previous app had only static ads? I would love to know about any functionality that you are missing with this update, or if any other specific shortcomings are bugging you pertaining to this change.

Won’t retain my log-in

This app keeps asking for log-in despite being a subscriber. Compared to other subscription apps used, this one ranks last. Fix this or I not renew my subscription.

TM Ap

Ap does not work even though I have a digital subscription. Customer Service is non existent.

Poor app

I can not recover any back issues. The website is poorly designed.

Buggy App

Monthly issues will not load occasionally. Considering canceling subscription.
