Price Deceptive
Disappointing for a free app to require purchase to use even the most basic functions . It’s not a bad price probably but don’t expect to have to pay unless it is charged at download.
What is this thing thinking?
Absolutely the most complicated text editor I’ve tried yet. All I want is a simple editor that can read rtf format, and save and find things on my cloud drives. This one only uses Apple iCloud Drive,and installs its own folder. So if you already have a file started, it won’t see it until you physically move it into that folder. Then it starts in with templates and other stuff I don’t want. Not to mention you HAVE to accept the three day trial of some ai tool just to get the app to open, and then you have to go cancel the trial or get bill $5 a month. This is a terrible app and a total scam to get money from you.

Zero Stars. The wretched UI would not let me not leave at least one.
Still has the upsell uncloseable popup. And while it says it does not collect data, the “privacy” policy on its web page says some of its third party components may… And it uses cookies! WTAF???

I like privacy policy but honestly, it isn’t free as advertised when a. Can’t test without signup. B. Can’t use without subscribing. Banking on people forgetting to cancel eh?

I’m not paying 4.99 per month when I can have it for free at least let me exit the thing letting me pay I don’t care if I don’t want the “extra perks” LEMME WRITE
App is Useless unless you buy TextEdit+
Every time I try the app, it asks me to purchase TextEdit+ so I can use AI and blah, blah, blah. No way for me to say nope. Useless.

It’s a paid app with a limited 3 day trial with no uptick or bypass.
Forces you to buy!
Forces you to buy a monthly subscription just to use it. Honestly it’s not worth it. I uninstalled it after 2 minutes trying to figure out how to get off the purchase screen and gave up since there was no “no thanks” or an “X” on the page to leave and not buy! I’ll find something free like it should be since it’s just note app…. I’ll spend my money on lunch instead.

Is this a paid only app? I can’t seem to get it to open unless pay them, but the description doesn’t say anything about that. Seems like a scam, I wouldn’t trust them.

Locked out of content, forced payment
I’ve used this for a long time. Now the app won’t even let you look at your previous work unless you sign up for a monthly subscription. It used to be great; now you should skip it. Sad to see.
Please allow me to choose my directory on iCloud!
Was quite excited to find this. Excitement dwindled when I saw that this app yet created another directory in my icloud and in order to open or edit and save documents from my macOS TextEdit directory it opens it after navigating to it and then wants to save it to it's own 'file system' / directory... Why? To me, that's a fail.

No AI - please!!!
I will not use an app that requires me to accept a free trial or purchase of the AI assistant. Period. This app is going back to where it came from. Why do you not allow me to just use the app without this Satya Nadella-like push to AI? Lots of people do not like AI - lots of us.

I downloaded it only to be met with a THREE day trial and a $NZ 7.00 a month subscription. No thanks.
