Apple charges a subscription fee
This tiny text editor is most definitely NOT worth paying a monthly subscription fee to use. It is (or was) an open source project distributed for free, but Apple is trying to squeeze every dime possible out its users. The company has become evil.

Price Deceptive
Disappointing for a free app to require purchase to use even the most basic functions . It’s not a bad price probably but don’t expect to have to pay unless it is charged at download.
What is this thing thinking?
Absolutely the most complicated text editor I’ve tried yet. All I want is a simple editor that can read rtf format, and save and find things on my cloud drives. This one only uses Apple iCloud Drive,and installs its own folder. So if you already have a file started, it won’t see it until you physically move it into that folder. Then it starts in with templates and other stuff I don’t want. Not to mention you HAVE to accept the three day trial of some ai tool just to get the app to open, and then you have to go cancel the trial or get bill $5 a month. This is a terrible app and a total scam to get money from you.

We’re sorry the forced trial and file workflow made a simple editing task so frustrating. In version 7.0.0, we removed the mandatory subscription screen. You can now use the free plan without starting a trial or subscribing. Please update to the latest version if you’d like to try it again. If the file-location workflow still gets in your way, please contact us at contact@noteswriter.com with the storage provider you use.
Zero Stars. The wretched UI would not let me not leave at least one.
Still has the upsell uncloseable popup. And while it says it does not collect data, the “privacy” policy on its web page says some of its third party components may… And it uses cookies! WTAF???
