Actual person replied and fixed my problem

I have had a subscription for a little over 6 months and recently couldn’t see anything beyond headline and photo. I wrote to the main email address and had a personal reply explaining the source of recent problem (app update mistake, now fixed) with instructions to solve.

I’ll renew just for this. And I love your art coverage!

Functional But...

This mobile app works very well but some improvements could be made.

It would help the user to see the art images if they could click on them and zoom in using two fingers, like many other apps use for image content.

One thing I noticed that does not work well is, if a user clicks on a category of article headlines to scroll through e.g. "Art Market," then goes back to the main page and tries selecting another category e.g. "Museums and Exhibitions," the app will redirect the user to the first category that they perused, and then not redirect the user to any category on the second attempt to access the new category. The issue is only solvable on user end by force closing the app.

One other suggestion - for the digital newspaper section, I'm hesitant to tap the "get" button as I don't know what this entails, even though I would like to access additional content. Plainly, I'm concerned the app will do something funky. A little description at the top of that page as to what happens when you hit the "get" button would be appreciated.

Comment functionality from other users would be cool, but I understand this isn't exactly the purpose of a magazine app. Given the state of the Internet, perhaps it's best not to employ this.

Good work other than that - thank you and cheers!

On iPad whole paragraphs of text are missing

Works well but if you try and read articles you’ll notice sentences that run to the edge of the app and apparently off screen - the rest of the paragraph is missing, presumably an issue with the app displaying article text at the correct page width. Very annoying - two thirds of the articles I read this morning had this problem, with much of the articles missing as a result.

App ok

Of course the application is not native and it is felt ! But the content is very good this is the most needed. Please add a dark theme!!! then I will give 5 stars!

App not showing text

The app worked great until about a week ago and now the story text does not appear. All that comes up is an outline for where text should be.
Happening on both my fully updated iPhone 13 and my iPad. Reinstalling didn’t help.

Great content but terrible sign in protocol

The app works great as regards the content, and the content of The Art Newspaper is top notch. However, having to sign in every time one opens the app is not only onerous, it is incomprehensible in 2022. I have never encountered this issue even with much more minor apps. Please get this fixed.

Becoming a nuisance

I’m an avid user of this app but must admit it’s frustrating to enter my user ID and password each day in order to read the articles. Why can’t the app remember this information like other apps especially as I’m using the same iPad or iPhone?

Art at its best

Love the App, but there does not seem to be a way of resetting the epapers back to ‘get’ once you have read them.

The app appears to work

Not sure why other reviewers are faced with non-updating timeline — maybe it was fixed in a recent update — but I personally don’t have an issue there. Lovely resource for different art-related news, and one of the better interfaces for a news app. I wish the image resolutions across the board could be higher — after all, we need to see artworks in their full glory!

Since there is two of us we appreciate the vision (hopefully she can see now)😏 maybe this will finally unfold into something great. 😑J&B

No access

The App would not update the content. I have deleted it and reinstalled it on my phone but it is now void or would not open. Subscribers beware! As per the message below from the Customer Service, if the App doesn’t work you have no access to content and you paid a subscription for nothing!
The subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store are App only access. Subscribers will only have access to the content through the app and not on desktop. These orders are handled through Apple and not The Art Newspaper.

Apps across devices don’t sync

I really like this app, I use it everyday to catch up on what’s happening in the art world. I mainly use the app on my iPad and save articles when I open it in the morning and then catch up with them at lunch or in the evening. However, when I don’t have my iPad to hand and I open the app on my phone none of the articles are saved in the ‘My News’ section; the app doesn’t sync across devices. This is a pretty standard feature on news apps. Will there be an update to fix this soon? It would make the app far better and allow people to read saved articles whatever device they happen to have on them at the time. With this small change I’d give this 5 stars. As it is, could be better.

It’s a very solid app

The app works seamlessly, it has never crashed, for frozen etc.
I wish there were tags or some other way to navigate topics, like on the website. Otherwise, great experience

Links open in Safari

This is a standard-issue newspaper/magazine app and I would assume it’s just a white label affair, but for one utterly maddening bug that’s clearly not a priority: links to other content on The Art Newspaper site open in Safari, not in the app itself.

I’m a paying customer and I can’t for the life of me imagine how that got through QA, other than... there is none?

Anyway two stars for the content but I’m probably deleting the app and using the web site going forward, because every single *internal* hyperlink destroys my reading flow.
