Often I can’t make comment and have to log out then log in again Even that is not easy as there is no log out icon showing

Hard to cancel, no longer balanced
There was a time when this publication was the gold standard. Views from all sides of politics. No more. Hard to cancel. Go somewhere else to pay for the survival of journalism.
Most annoying
The app has the annoying feature of auto playing videos or simply cutting out any audio the user may be playing. You cannot read the news and listen to music from apps on the same device. This is the only app that cut out the users music feed.
Terrible
1. Have to scroll all the way up to get back out of the article.
2. Posting a comment is impossible on my iPhone SE. The command to post is behind the pop up keyboard and can’t be accessed. Useless!
3. Can’t see comments history or sort comments.
Very disappointed in this “upgrade”.

I find it’s quite difficult to access your, say, Design Driven videos. Can you tell me me a quick, reliable way to do this? I was trying to find the video fr Wish 2/7/26 on Stephanie Conley-Bure but find accessibility not easy…..

Moderator favouring protected subscribers
I recently had an unpleasant experience where one of my comments was disparaged by another reader.
My fathers wartime recollections were questioned and I was basically accused of embellishing a story.
The moderator refused to withdraw the offending comment or allow me to challenge the offensive comment which drew approximately 26 likes.
One person later apologised to me in writing.
The person who made the comment is a regular offender and appears un touchable.
This experience has left me quite distressed, my father suffered from PTSD as a result of his war service and as a 10 year old I watched his health deteriorate, until he died.
Your Moderator did not allow me to defend my fathers story or my own honesty.

Moderation of commentary
The moderation of commentary often rejects valid commentary because it doesn’t fit with the position of the moderator even if the commentary is correct, polite and inoffensive to all but a small minority. This is so even when it corrects slanders, intentional or otherwise.
Disappointed in technical side of the app
I purchased a yearly subscription to the digital version but can’t access the mind games. Or benefits. It won’t link my account. Not good enough.

Auto play infuriates me
No matter what I do in settings auto play of videos kicks in over the top of music. I like to read whilst on an exercise machine so this is annoying.

Once again, when I open the app video or podcast starts talking. I hate this, I am not trying to listen to some useless podcast, I am trying to read the paper. If this keeps up I will be cancelling um subscription.
Terrible app
The most recent random difficulty is that I am now being told that to comment, I now have to link my account. What that means, and how I do that, I do not know. It’s just another in a long line of difficulties with this app. They really don’t deserve a subscription.
Pop-up ads are so annoying
Generally a good newspaper but the app is a disaster. You scroll down and deliberately designed so that you can’t avoid clicking on ads that then pop up. Very frustrating and poor form by the Australian.

When a newspaper publishes an article that might incite the readers to respond, why is it approximately 40% of my responses are disallowed?
Surely if there is no bad language or obvious libel why can’t we say what we want. This is not freedom of speech, this is selective censorship and should be stopped. If I want to use the word Muslim, Brittany Higgins or any other political stirrer, why not? Shame on you.
