Recycled News

The app has improved over the years from a technical perspective but the user experience is still way off where the international competition currently sits. The ‘latest’ section is a mixture of old news and editorials taken from the other sections which is just misleading, so once you’ve scrolled down this section you’ve seen everything there is. Content is wafer thin these days. There is no chance to contact the paper, you can offer comments now which is mostly a plus. Monday is OK at least we get some content from the London Times. An app with a grand vision supporting about as much real content as the local scouts newsletter, possibly why the paper is so focussed on parliament because its the only thing happening and that’s where the Australian’s journalist lives, shame about the rest of the world.

Downloading Saved Stories - messaged DONE LOAD FAILED - Try Again.

I cannot download ‘saved stories’ after severely attempts and un installing and re installing your App.
I have tried your ‘HELP’ tab but that is no help - if not in FAQ - bad luck, go away.
So assuming it’s my error, what am I not doing to download ‘saved stories’ because all I have saved is the title of the article.

The Australian App

I cannot get comments on my app. It consistently tells me an error in downloading comments try again later.

App keeps crashing when using the back function

The app closes when you use the Back function(<), these has been consistently happening for over a month and hasn’t been fixed. It makes the frustrating to use, it seems there is always not working with the app. Seriously considering cancelling my subscription if this the best News Corp can.

A very disappointing and disgruntled subscriber!

Hostile when unsubscribing- if they let you

So disappointed with their treatment. Truly unAustralian. Wish I had cancelled earlier and have told everyone I know.

Constant glitching

The app is consistently shutting down and requires reopening when the ‘back’ arrow is used to move between articles. This is especially the case in the ‘Commentary’ section and the sections that follow on from it

Doesn’t seem to work well on iPad

The app crashes regularly. Also the window size and placement controls don’t work.

App crashing

In the last week or so, app sometimes crashes when I exit an article.

Need to link account to comment

This has just turned up so I can’t comment any longer. There is no information as to HOW to do this. So maybe I just unsubscribe?

Hate It!!

What’s going on with the uninvited commentaries?

Great read, couple of glitches

Using the app on iPhone mostly, the content is great, no complaints there. Just a couple things that need a tweak; when searching for content I find that entirely unrelated results are sometimes shown. Also, when swiping back to the articles lists after having opened one, it will very often jump you back to the top of the list rather than take you back to the position you came from meaning you have to scroll down to find the point in the list you were last at, and, minimising the pictures or content in all cases would be better done by swiping as opposed to using the arrows or “done” button. Oh, and it needs to be possible to change or cancel subscription on the app or website rather than having to call Monday to Friday - clearly and intentional effort to make it harder than it needs to be! Otherwise a great app easy to navigate and reliable.

Can’t select text in an article

One of the joys of digital media is the ability to select text and look up definitions and references. Other news apps allow this. The Australian app does not. It’s annoying and detracts from the user experience. A pity, because the journalism is generally good

Saved Articles Don’t Load

Using the app my saved stories won’t load-get an error message suggesting I try again. When I attempt the same process using desktop the saved stories don’t appear ie the message says I haven’t saved anything even though I have and can see them in the app??

Once again I can’t make a comment

Often I can’t make comment and have to log out then log in again Even that is not easy as there is no log out icon showing
This is very annoying
Why doesn’t I need a Nickname?????

Hard to cancel, no longer balanced

There was a time when this publication was the gold standard. Views from all sides of politics. No more. Hard to cancel. Go somewhere else to pay for the survival of journalism.

Most annoying

The app has the annoying feature of auto playing videos or simply cutting out any audio the user may be playing. You cannot read the news and listen to music from apps on the same device. This is the only app that cut out the users music feed.

Terrible

1. Have to scroll all the way up to get back out of the article.
2. Posting a comment is impossible on my iPhone SE. The command to post is behind the pop up keyboard and can’t be accessed. Useless!
3. Can’t see comments history or sort comments.
Very disappointed in this “upgrade”.

Your videos

I find it’s quite difficult to access your, say, Design Driven videos. Can you tell me me a quick, reliable way to do this? I was trying to find the video fr Wish 2/7/26 on Stephanie Conley-Bure but find accessibility not easy…..

The Australian

I love it

Moderator favouring protected subscribers

I recently had an unpleasant experience where one of my comments was disparaged by another reader.

My fathers wartime recollections were questioned and I was basically accused of embellishing a story.

The moderator refused to withdraw the offending comment or allow me to challenge the offensive comment which drew approximately 26 likes.

One person later apologised to me in writing.

The person who made the comment is a regular offender and appears un touchable.

This experience has left me quite distressed, my father suffered from PTSD as a result of his war service and as a 10 year old I watched his health deteriorate, until he died.

Your Moderator did not allow me to defend my fathers story or my own honesty.
