FAQ

What does the Best Vibration Meter app do?

This app transforms your smartphone into a vibration meter. It uses your phone's built-in sensors to measure vibrations, acting as a seismograph or seismometer. The app displays these measurements on a modified Mercalli intensity scale, providing a reference for seismic activity.

How does the app measure vibrations?

The application leverages your phone's internal sensors to detect and quantify vibrations. It can measure various types of tremors, including those from earthquakes, and presents the data in a way that relates to the internationally recognized Mercalli intensity scale.

Can I calibrate the vibration meter?

Yes, you can calibrate the app to ensure accurate readings. The description suggests setting the maximum value to approximately 10-11 during calibration. This helps in getting a more precise measurement of the vibrations detected by your phone's sensors.

What is the Mercalli intensity scale?

The Mercalli intensity scale is a seismic scale used to measure the intensity of an earthquake based on its observed effects. This app references this scale to help users understand the impact of the vibrations it detects, classifying seismic activities like earthquakes.

Is this app free to use?

The app is described as a free application. However, it does mention in-app purchases, indicating that while the core functionality is available for free, there may be optional paid features or content within the app.
