You can now block specific apps and put a gate in front of them: to open one, you come into the app and solve a math problem first. The cost rises if you keep at it, so unlocking the same apps again later the same day asks for more problems and gives back less time. You can also set locked hours, stretches when the blocked apps do not open at all and no problem will let you in. Strict mode goes with them: while a locked window is running, you cannot widen your blocked list, shorten your hours, or turn the app off without solving your way through first. And there is now a companion watch app: a live countdown of your remaining time, a buzz every few minutes to bring attention away from scrolling, and a lock now button to end it early from your wrist. Still no accounts, no sign-in, and nothing leaving your phone.
