Great channel but app could be better
No question that some of the best films in the world are represented here, but I find the app itself difficult to use. It needs to have a better browse function. There’s no way to just look over the entire body of content at the same time, and I feel that most of the content is not represented without a thorough and knowledgeable search.
Still, if you love cinema, they should be your first stop.

Downloaded Movies Don’t Work
Downloaded a bunch of films for trans-Pacific flight. First one I tried worked, but all others continued to attempt to stream despite phone being in airplane mode. They are all still on my phone, taking up many gigs, just inaccessible.

The Criterion Channel is the essential streaming service for lovers of important cinema. The variety and scope of offerings is second to none. IF YOU HAVE A SAMSUNG TV: There’s a playback issue with the app where every video lags. However, using Apple AirPlay instead should work just fine.

Is the best the app creator can do?
I don’t enjoy using this app in spite of looking up movies and content nearly every float. Simple things like removing half-watched bad movies from the Resume list is a puzzle I haven’t figured out yet. Why should that be hard? The movie descriptions are pretty good, though, and so are the supplementary shorts, commentaries, etc.
