Freezes
In the last month or so, the app has started freezing on my ipad mini, either when scrolling down the page or when moving to another article. The freeze generally lasts between five and 20 seconds. Very irritating!
Latest date does not work for Blind people using VoiceOver
The app does not work with VoiceOver voices use by blind people know with low vision to navigate on iOS devices. Has other viewers have said?
Exclusion
Your latest update blocks VoiceOver, the inbuilt screen reader on iPhones, iPads and other Apple devices. Thanks for the discrimination guardian. Glad people get to play their stupid crosswords. Trying to give you feedback, but was blocked doing that as well. The blind aren’t allowed to know what’s happening in the world according to the guardian but considering you’re being banned by all the right wing parties well…

Love new layout
The new layout is excellent. I can now easily access news and views about what interests me from all over the world.
The best newspaper for me
I’m always eager to read you in the morning to learn what’s going on in the world. I love Simon Tisdale’s opinions. If you have time to read only one newspaper, that’s the one to read!
Crossword Ruined
The changes to the crossword have ruined it. It’s the main reason I have the app. The news is better on the Web app. Unless it goes back I’ll probably end up deleting it.

Overheating
In itself the app is very easy to use and does everyI need, however in the last few weeks it has caused my iPhone 16 Pro to overheat so badly that I have to curtail my sessions. I can’t even leave the app running in the background. Please correct this flaw!

The app is practically unusable on iPhone and iPad
Since rodent iPhone to OS26 the home page freezes when scrolling when a large picture or video appears. After several seconds you can scroll again.
Switching to the My Guardian section takes several seconds for anything to appear.
Same problem when opening and closing a story. Several seconds delay before anything appears.
I’ve had to switch to Safari just to have a better experience.

Peace journalism with courage and integrity
I’m a huge fan of The Guardian, as someone who studied Peace Journalism as a means towards a more peaceful world, and as someone who also worked as a journalist.
The app gets worse and worse
Not only can’t I select the news I want to see, they now push a load of minutiae at the top like a tabloid. I have to scroll past tons of sports news which is always in great depth on he home page but I can’t get to the news that actually mattes without having to dig around.
This would be an easy tweak to make to revert to the old style app which was much better but the developers would rather ignore subscribers.
It doesn’t automatically download news so keeps searching when I’m on the tube. Like the app, the journalism has also deteriorated of late as they chase scandals for eyeballs rather than focusing on quality journalism.

Background process 100% battery
Any app that’s goes through the whole battery overnight whilst charging has to go no matter what you think of the content.
Victoria police
The story about police brutality in Sydney and footage released is nothing compared to video I have where police knowingly stalk and assault physically and sexually a victim of rape by a police officer as a 13,yo child and use a Grindr sex worker, ironically a cold case detective from Warrnambool has a son involved who also had sex for rewards with the man, the former alp and union leader was being held at bay from going to media by corrupt politicians and police he was tortured and suffered atrocious mental health problems including ptsd

Such great coverage
The guardian get into the meat of every important story and sends their people where they need to be. There are times I find the columnists (Pro Russian isolationists )very annoying but that’s called freedom of the press. I Give it as much time as any other sources including Washington Post and New York Times.

A old fashion substantive newspaper.
Excellent journalism. Comprehensive world news and in depth stories, even series, on subjects illustrative of social or cultural trends - like police brutality in one California county or the Opiod Crisis or children bombed and starving in Yemen. It is a newspaper we need to keep alive. The Guardian, true to its name, keeps an eye on the world and informs us of what her marvelous array of reporters see and learn. Give money, whatever little or big you can. I give $25 a month, even as a social security fixed income 84 year old.
