Every article is randomly filled with the symbols   making it impossible to read.
Ads are a nuisance
The ads in this app are completely out of control. I can never really get to the news story because the screen scrolls with videos and pop-ups that are some of the most annoying I’ve ever encountered. Why does every news story have to have a video attached to the top of it, most of which don’t even relate to the story? I appreciate the attempt at being unbiased, but if it means paying for a subscription to get these ads out-of-the-way, and if there is some possible way for you to remove the videos on top of every news article, I might use it more. Until then. the app stinks.

Shills to Nexstar
Another quality news outlet purchase by billionaires.
Killer fonts
Ginormous font size in article text renders app unusable for me
Lame
average news source but horrible app overall. Stuttering pages, jumps to ads, jump to end of articles…just a poor app
Too many ads
No details in story to match headline/alerts. Too many ads. Too many popups. I removed the app from my phone because the useless alerts were too distracting.
Important features missing
For a quality news app, the minimum requirement should be the ability to search for a story, and also to bookmark a story one might want to return to. These are sadly missing in this app. Thus I knocked off two stars.
Good news, terribly intrusive ad format
The Hill is a very good source of news, but the way ads are served is terribly intrusive and annoying.
I have to keep moving the screen up and down while trying to start reading, because of the way the ads take time to settle in. And most are vids, which compounds the problem.
The owners clearly have no respect for readers, they just want to push the ads.
I check The Hill quickly to see if it has any interesting breaking stories — which, to be fair, it often does — but I quickly go elsewhere to follow up.

No longer works on my iPhone
Used to read it regularly, now it never finishes loading, the page is slightly darkened like it’s going to show me an ad first or something but never does- deleted and reinstalled several times over several months
Search?
Why is there no search function?
Stop Hijacking My Audio
This is the only news app that consistently hijacks my audio when launching it, making it impossible to listen to music while reading the morning news.
Formatting issue on iPad
Work for one day, everything is up to date. Landscape, I can read one line at a time, with rest screen filled with video. Portrait words are cut off on sides. iPad 11.
Worst news app ever, but best ads app
You can’t even read an article, you get like 3 lines and then the whole rest of the screen is a video ad. This isn’t for video articles but text. Stupid.
Recent update
Recent update will not work. App asks for what news alerts I want and if I want weather updates, but will not give me the option me to move past those screens to the news feed.
No longer works
This used to be a good news app. But, as of a few days ago it doesnt work. I get a prompt about weather notifications then it freezes. Have tried reinstalling a couple of times, but no use.
Will just have to look at the web version

Lost a reader
You have lost a reader with the latest app update. Just as happened with NewsNation you now make it almost impossible to READ articles because the video space takes up 3/4 of the screen on my IPad and android phone in horizontal mode. Plus, the text is so large that it won't fit on the screen in vertical mode. Ad money from videos is the reason. Too bad, The Hill was my go to app. Now I will use Politico and Guardian. They still appreciate their readers.

Great Content, Lousy Code
Have always enjoyed articles from The Hill that come to me via other news services. So I thought “why not get their app?”, and installed it on my 3rd Gen SE.
My first impression was good, especially when I turned my phone sideways and the app adapted. And then I opened an article to read…
The scrolling is so jittery that I uninstalled right away. There is no excuse for this when virtually no one else has such an issue, and I’m surprised it even made it into the App Store. A bad reflection on Apple as well as Nexstar Media. Both should be embarrassed.

Bias
The hill I thought was supposed to be different from other news networks and just report the facts. It’s very clear the direction the company leans. Time after time they take a side and you can see it in their reporting. They are not reporting the news they are reporting a narrative. Being disappointed I came here to write a review and what does the thumb nail picture have, a article portraying republican in a negative light. If you want a echo chamber for liberal Democrat talking points this is the site for you. But if you want fair, just the facts news I would suggest echo times. Do better The Hill!!

App won’t load
App says my device isn’t connected to internet, but that’s not true. It works fine on all other apps and works for me to post this. I couldn’t even load app support. Stop blaming others for your app problems.
Irritating
The app contains relevant and well written articles which are, unfortunately, nearly impossible to read due to jumping ads and pop ups. It would be well worth the investment of the price of an ad free option but that is not available.
